Any quick fixes here?
A buyer has bought several of my items, and as such I have combined postage for him and posted in a parcel together. Individually I would post these items in a padded envelope.
Since I have combined, the simple delivery for one item doesn't cover the price of a parcel, so I've just posted it, obtained a tracking number and was hoping I could apply that to each item, mark as posted and issue a postage refund on each... But no... eBay are in control of the postage money... Leaving me with a difficult conversation with the buyer.
Has anyone else had a similar issue, and if so, what is the solution? I don't want to end up out of pocket!

If you (unofficially, as far as ebay is concerned) sent the items together you can at least get the others to show as dispatched by generating the original labels. You can change the tracking number for one item at View Order Details > Postage > Track Package > dropdown arrow. That has to be done on a desktop browser.
Afterwards if you paid for the original label you can cancel them here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/claims/simple-delivery/refund/seller
Or if the buyer paid for them they will be refunded to them automatically in 30 days.

Hi
Thanks for your reply, it's really helpful 😊.
Just for clarity, when you say it will automatically refund, is that if I do nothing?
It's a really mixed bag as 2 items automatically combined themselves and 9 others didn't for the same buyer.
It's not the first time simple delivery has caused me a headache!
Many thanks for your quick and helpful response.

If a Buyer asks about combined postage tell them the must add each thing they want to their basket and check out as a single payment from there. e-Bay then do the combining and supply you with a single label.
I'm not sure how it works with auctions as the Help pages are mute on that. I would think that Buyers should delay paying until the final one has ended. If there's a gap of more than three days between the first and last they could get in bother for non-payment though.
As for refunds for un-used labels, if you paid, ie it was 'free' postage, you have to apply. If the Buyer paid it's automatic.
