ParcelForce - Damage/Disposal of items

Long story short I'm having issues retrieving a parcel (as a buyer outside of ebay) with the intention to sell (on ebay) from ParcelForce. After 2 alleged delivery attempts, the 1st I was home, the 2nd I was out, the tracking information shows the parcel as being returned to depot as of the 5th.

Unfortunately it appears that owing to the transition, although I can track the item on the PF website, when I go to RM to arrange a re-delivery, the reference isn't recognised. After several unsuccessful attempts to have it re-delivered without an available reference, and a total of 3hrs across 2 phone calls to them and a wasted day off. I was today advised that the item was initially lost (codeword for too lazy to look?), and after some apparent reading of notes from the depot, it has been disposed of due to a leak (code for stolen?). It's all very bizarre as when I first spoke to them they asked for a description of the contents when attempting to locate the package - none of their business was my first thought. As it happens the contents are primarily cleaning cloths (BNIB) with maybe 10% non-hazardous cleaning sprays (silver polish) and I advised them of such.

Anyway, my plan is to go their early tomorrow (a 2hr round trip) and hopefully get some straight answers as although I didn't pay a great deal for the items, they do have a significant retail value in excess of £1000. But in the meantime, can anyone answer me this...

Q) IF there has been a leak - which I find hard to believe. When PF Dispose of items (as above), what procedures should they have taken? I've done some Googling and the best I can come up with that they need to provide evidence for non prohibited items and even if they are disposed of it's discretionary whether they dispose of the entire package or just a partial amount. Given that the liquids were in maybe 16-18 50ml bottles (and no hazardous warnings on the packet), it's not as if there would have been a catastrophic leak of a 5ltr tub that would damage the entire package. And if it is just the one bottle, maybe 1% of the entire box/value for a non-hazard liquid, why does that give them carte blanche to effectively steal the remainder. As it wouldn't take a genius with a smart phone to workout there's a nice little Marketplace/Carboot/Ebay haul staring at them. Any advice gratefully received.

PS: For anyone about to say contact seller/their issue, I was waiting on a firm outcome from tomorrow. The items only cost 1/5th the retail value so don't really want them getting involved until there's a firm and clear outcome as in that eventuality I can only claim the purchase price not the retail value of good. As I currently see it ParcelFarce are holding £800+ of my unrealised profit to ransom.

ParcelForce - Damage/Disposal of items

What was the firm outcome, if you'd like to share?

Looking at the ParcelForce website it doesn't look promising. The two most relevant points concerning restricted liquids over 1L are:

- Items must be securely closed and placed in a leak-proof inner liner, such as a sealed polythene bag and in a leak-proof outer.

-If you send... restricted goods (and you do not comply with the relevant terms and conditions), we may deal with your items as we see fit, including but not limited to, disposing of the parcels concerned (in whole or in part).

In what way would parcel force get involved with you? You are the buyer and they certainly wouldn’t reimburse you for the retail value of the goods!

your route here is through your seller. They need to refund you and it’s up to them to claim via Parcel Force.

ParcelForce - Damage/Disposal of items

@jonatjonatjonat @style_wise the item was sent from a Jersey auction house via Jersey Post. So the initial tracking became seemingly untraceable once the package reached Mainland UK. Fortunately I managed to recover the package from the Shrewsbury depot which was a 2hr round trip away, but I had to take the morning off work to retrieve the package. I handed over the card and 2 minutes later had the parcel in my hands, so all the nonsense and lies from Parcelfarce the phone was complete BS. All in all I wasted about 5hrs on the phone/collecting plus a wasted day off hanging around the house when it was supposedly being re-delivered. I dread it when I'm sent items using Parcel Force!
