Nothing is simple with this delivery

Happily trotted off to post office with QR code. Sadly informed the code was not read.  Paid for Royal Mail delivery.
went online to request money paid to Evri be paid to me. Chat bot no help. Requested human being. They eventually grasped that I wanted the postage fee buyer paid to be paid to me. Two weeks later…. Nothing. Back to chat bot which tells me if Evri code is not used after 30 days then buyer will receive a refund! Think I’m going over to Vinted.

That’s correct. Why would you get a refund for something the buyer paid for? If your arguement is the QR code failed fair enough, but that’s another issue.

worth noting the same would apply on Vinted. Buyer pays postage there, if for some reason you purchased postage elsewhere, the refund would go back to the original payment.

Re: Nothing is simple with this delivery

It certainly doesn't look correct to me. If the buyer paid for the original postage and got a refund too, then they haven't actually paid for postage. The seller has ended up paying for it.

But since it should be paid for by the buyer how is the seller to get a refund for the excess postage they've ended up having to pay?

They paid for the original postage.

which was not used.

unfortunately, and additional postage paid for is borne by the seller. EBay make this more than clear.

‘If you choose to purchase your own delivery label separately, you’ll have to cover the cost.’

given this was an Evri label and the issue is a qr code, then a 6 digit code would also have been supplied.

Re: Nothing is simple with this delivery

Thank you for understanding the situation and being supportive. Sadly I'm getting nowhere chasing eBay on this.

Re: Nothing is simple with this delivery

Important word choose. I did not choose. I had no option but to find alternative delivery. I send promptly on payment. I don’t let buyers down.
The introduction of a third party involved in collecting payment for postage has created a real headache. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking that.

Re: Nothing is simple with this delivery

Sadly, it looks like you're being punished for not having the Evri label scanned correctly. Some post offices will take in Evri mail but maybe not all staff know how to scan them or, if there are problems, where the enterable code is located?

I avoid using Evri whenever I can.

Like all things SD, it's a learning experience and there are an awful LOT of things to learn. You'll know for next time or Simply avoid Ebay altogether?

What date was the QR code not read at the Post Office, please? It's just you say 'two weeks later'... do you know there was a big Royal Mail system glitch for almost a week at the beginning of August? This affected online sellers from Vinted, Amazon and eBay equally.

Re: Nothing is simple with this delivery

Yes, there was a glitch but that would have been RM parcels only, not Evri ones.

Re: Nothing is simple with this delivery

Hi I attempted to post with Evri QR code on 7 August. Reported issue to EBay. Requested buyer’s postage payment be refunded to me.
Which I thought was fair under the circumstances

Still out of pocket even if I’m reimbursed. It’s been
Two weeks and I’m not holding my breath.

Re: Nothing is simple with this delivery

It all depends who initially paid for the postage,  seller ( Free Postage or seller pays),  or the buyer as to who receives that refund.

  • If you selected 'Buyer pays’ when you created the listing, your buyer will automatically be refunded for any Simple Delivery label that isn’t used after 30 days

  • If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.  Also ensure you add the replacement tracking number of the service used, and it shows delivery.
