The new Simple Post gives an option to use the cheaper EVRI, as opposed to Royal Mail, which I have used with no hassle for years. On my neighbourhood social media, I lose count of the number of parcels people are either looking for, or have in their possession, which do not belong to them. I see footage from door cams of drivers dropping parcels over the garden gate into the garden and other bad deliveries, with photos of front doors which do not belong to the buyer. Is anyone else concerned about this? I may have had one lost parcel in ten years via Royal Mail and I much prefer using that service. Comments would be welcome.

I notice that my auto-relisted items now default to SD. There should be an option to turn SD off in preferences, not have to go 'advanced options' for every listing.

NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO USE EVRI AND I LIVE OUT IN THE COUNTRYSIDE WHERE MY ONLY POST IS ROYAL MAIL. SO WHY HAS EBAY DECIDED THAT ALL OF US NEED TO USE EVRI. SORRY, BUT YOU SHOULD BE THINKING ABOUT ALL OF US WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A LOCAL SHOP.

Yes I fnd exactly that. I've chosen the "seller pays postage " option. The delivery cost is £3.71 if I allow both couriers, and £5.15 if I exclude Evri (which I want to do because drop off at the Post Office is far more convenient for me). I don't understand why this is.

The increase in postal cost when deselecting Evri or Rm has not been explained by ebay - one thought other then just slamming ebay as greedy may be the way ebay calculate postal costs.
It is a huge volume and undoubtedly the negotiated prices between ebay and the carriers is fierce - maybe just maybe ebay use averaging across both carriers to enable the prices to be competetive especially at the larger heavier end and when one carrier is removed the averaging pushes the price up on the carrrier left in the equation, especially if this carrier is taking the larger heavier parcels which will be the most subsidised.
Averaging is extensively used - we do to bring down the carriage cost of larger heavier items but it is a balancing process and works well if the proportion of small packages and large packages remains balanced to allow it to work
If ebay are using an automated system to calculate postage using averaging if you upset the balance the calculated prices on the smaller packages will rise significantly to keep the larger packages within the price band - ebay offer wide weight bands at an average price which brings me to believe this is a possibility
