Re: Losing sales because combined postage

Seems it's still a technical issue eBay say they're working on it.

There has been no announcement that it's to be permanently disabled.

eBay informs anyone wishing to combine postage on items,  to ask the buyer to buy and pay for all items,  then to make a partial refund for the excess postage paid.

Yep, not ideal,  but that's the only workaround suggested.

One tip,  if you do make partial refunds,  mark all items as dispatched first.  If you refund first,  there's a quirk in eBay's programming , disallowing items to be marked as dispatched.

Re: Losing sales because combined postage

This has been a problem for a while now from what I’ve read on the boards and eBay have said they’re working on it

Bit,of a long shot but

I looked in my postage preferences in selling hub ..not sure if this can be done after a sale and before payment but lose nothng trying it as a one off, then putting it all back

click on accept combined payments and tick

then click on flat postage rate and tick subtract £x from each additional item

So say you have five items and they’ll all go into one parcel with the p&p quoted in the one listing it might work

see if anything happens

Re: Losing sales because combined postage

What my partner has done for a buyer who wanted combined postage ,he put the cost of the total postage on just the one item and put the other items  as free postage ,it saved having to mess about with refunds .

Re: Losing sales because combined postage

I am being asked by buyers for a total invoice to combine postage when the item has sold through Simple delivery which automatically combines it when they pay the original invoice.

I cannot send the buyers anything and I'm messaging them to pay the invoice and postage reduction is taken care of by Ebay.

The attached screen clip is the message i get when I click on 'send payment details' once the buyer has requested a revised invoice.

I feel that they should not be able to do this on simple delivery as what it does is remove the countdown timer for nonpayment which is what I have with one buyer at the moment, and is replaced with a checkbox for sending the revised payment details, which I can't do!

I am now putting a lengthy message in my new listings explaining that combined shipping is all taken care of at the buyers checkout by Ebay.

Re: Losing sales because combined postage

eBay takes the postage cost separately to the price of the item.   The seller has no control over postage now.
My buyer bought two similar items each including postage and paid immediately for them.  I've put the two items into one parcel to send (less than 400 grams total) and sent them off (and messaged the buyer)
I cannot mark the second item as despatched and I won't be paid for second item until eBay has confirmation from Evri it's been delivered!  What a ridiculous position to be in!
How can seller show second item has been despatched?  How can buyer reclaim the postage cost?

Re: Losing sales because combined postage

I really am not sure what a lot of people are doing to get things wrong. I am sorry to say this but it's true. Ebay are also making a huge amount of mistakes. I sold 5 jigsaw puzzles yesterday - Three to one customer and two separate ones to others. They were all under Simple Delivery. All my items are Free Postage which means I build the post cost into my listings. The two single puzzles sold and each one showed that £3.38 was taken out of my eBay balance which pays for the prepaid label. I have no problem with that as it was expected. I then checked the prepaid label for the 3 jigsaw puzzles to one buyer. They paid all at the same time and everyone included Buyer Protection racket... sorry Fee. What confused me was the AI Bot correctly guessed that a box of 3 jigsaws would weigh more than just one so boosted the weight up to 5kg. No issues here. Then I noticed this same 'clever' AI bot assumed that I could still get all 3 jigsaw puzzles into the same size packet measuring 45cm x 35cm x 16cm. To top it all, I then noticed in the View Order Page how much I ended up paying in TOTAL for the THREE jigsaw puzzles in a 5Kg parcel.........£2.23!!!! Go figure.

Re: Losing sales because combined postage

My understanding is

you get paid about 14 days after the order:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/selling/getting-paid/getting-paid-items-youve-sold?id=4814#section2

buyer is refunded for the unused postage in 30 days automatically (only if buyer paid the postage).

I can't immediately find an official ebay link but it's been mentioned on these forums several times.
