Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

There are highs and lows for many delivery companies. Sometimes, we, as a business find one is ok for a period and then we have to move to another. Staff seems to be the key, rather unsurprisingly but we keep our options open and on many days use multiple companies. I have seen complaints about royal mail, Yodel and Evri (Hermes) most recently but to date I have to say that being a small seller and sending up to 11 or 12 packages a day Royal Mail works for us. But buying is a different matter and this is where I join in others by asking why does eBay continue to support a company like Evri, who to us, has failed consistantly to deliver or even when it has finally got to us the delivery is substandard, smashed, broken. I am yet again awaiting a package costing over a 100.00 and being resold as part of another set of items. three days after its last due date its not here and tracking has stopped, you dont know where it is, just the intended date and delivery but marked as delayed. This has happened so many times that now I pre empt and ask sellers not to send via Evri and if they have, as soon as it is delayed I start asking, using all the email address I have for Evri and eBay providing the tracking numbers. It costs me time that I could use elsehwre but this is because out of each three items lost I may actually get one by being quick. Seriously this is how many iotems go missing, get lost, are broken or the lates one is "destroyed" Sellers please understand, using Evri will end up taking a lot more time, cost you more money and probably losing the sale. By the same implication this must be costing eBay, who we know is all about the money, one hell of a lot of money. Evri may be cheap but they dont do the job. The mistake by many sellers is they dont understand that they have a reposnability to ensure the item gets to the buyer and not that it ends when they hand it over to the courier who is only contracted by them to deliver. In our case that contract has been broken many times and has cost sellers time and lost sales while eBay has had to fork out a lot of money in compensation. For us its loss of business, lost sales, while we will never use Evri to send we still have sellers we buy from keen on the "cheap" price and dont realise its false economy.

If you have bad service from Evri please complain, lets raise this profile and either get them to understand that its not about chat bots and automation, its the people they use to deliver, to handle and its obvious they are not motivated. Whats the use in having such a basic tracking and AI when the system just does not know where your package is or where it has been delivered or what to do about it when it is gone...... Somewhere in the ether of Evri.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

So sorry to hear, its the same story, time and time again. We all want
cheap, but there is inexpensive and "Cheap". The model that Hermes/Evri
use, while in practice looks good and can work but involves self employed
people on a minimal per package which, given human nature does not work.
The drivers want the bulk drops and the next to each other drops, anything
that involves cost or extra time is not in their favour. They actually pick
and choose parcels, deliberately missing the ones that take an effort. I
know that as I have been told by someone from our local hub. The parcel
sits, label defaced in some cases to avoid delivery. No one knows where it
is, iot gets knocked about, put in the non delivery storage and finally
disposed of. The chat bot does not know this and as for saying your
postcode does not exist I have had many, many attempts and always the same
"Sorry that postcode is not recognised" and then you start again. I have
recently had packages from abroad and again they get handed to Evri, why?
Because they are cheap, once its in the UK the handling agent wants the
cheapest delivery option and that is ...... Yep! you guessed it Evri. (in
most cases). This is why I mentioned this in the first place as it is
frustrating for me and must be for many others so please complain, please
ask for Evri not to be used, only by a larger action of people can we get
this damned delivery agency removed as a default or maybe, just maybe they
might listen and improve!................ Nah!

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

Again and again EVRI FAILS to deliver the item !!!! eBay are effectively FORCING sellers to use Evri and it's destroying the trust that we used to have in eBay. When companies stop listening to customer feedback, they are going into decline !!

I think the Evri motto should be never ever on time, never at the correct address !

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I will not bothering ordering off eBay now that EVRI is integrated and performing so badly. I will not be able to guarantee my item arrives on time or even arrives at all. I have had multiple issues with EVRI and their customer service is inadequate. Such a shame, eBay will see usage of its platform reduce. With PayPal and Applepay it is already much easier to buy directly from other retailers. Without reliable deliveries eBay start to look like an old fashioned /legacy platform to avoid and for younger people to ignore as an option.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

As a buyer I am now refusing anything that is Evri. In my experience it takes too long. The guy that delivers it is nice and friendly but that is all I can say that is positive and not really an advantage. As a seller of low priced items the Royal Mail costs are too high. I’m going to look at other sites.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

It is a total lottery if, once your item enters the evri black hole, if you will ever see it again! They have a 50% hit rate on deliveries for me. This means far to many unhappy buyers and frustrated sellers. I will not be using ebay to buy or sell on until this changes, I have used ebay to buy and sell for over a decade but have finally had enough, there are other platforms that can compete now.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

Agreed! It is similar to the many comments I have had since posting. The
Evri system is not fit for the purpose they claim to be. If they claim that
this is the cheapest, but not totally reliable that would be the correct
sales term. As you state it then makes it not worth while selling less
"earning items" because often delivery outweighs the profit and the effort
which eBay seems to miss. Its not so much being recompensed for the goods
as much as packaging well, care in dispatch and commnucations. When you
make minimal why should you bother even listing.

Thank you for your input

John

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I now avoid sellers who use evri, now that simple delivery hides the courier (deliberate?) I am now very reluctant to buy off private sellers. Not their fault, but one of seven deliveries arrived from evri, the rest a multitude of excuses, but never arrived.

They are without a doubt a terrible company, with an appalling reputation.

eBay really need to drop them.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I have happily sold and bought on eBay for over 22 years, until this week! Two separate items, both sent using Evri, one ‘out for delivery’ on Monday. Then ‘attempted delivery’ later that day, with a random photo of a parcel, without a label showing, on the ground. Nowhere near my house! 48 hours later, another parcel ‘out for delivery’. Didn’t arrive either! This time notified of ‘attempted delivery’ with a black blank photo! Goodness knows when the first or second parcel will arrive?
I am very tempted to stop transactions on eBay. I’ve never had problems with Royal Mail.
Evri AI chat bot has lead to an ‘incident’ being raised but so far only a notification. Judging by the incident numbers in 48 hours, my 2 numbers are tens of thousands apart

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

It will be no comfort to you-but ever since Ebay began farming out deliveries to AMAZON LOGISTICS- it has been disastrous. Disabled, my parcels are not being delivered to my house, but the driver puts them into a neighbours (no 19 as opposed to my street number 21) open fronted garage/store. I have twice (in the past week), had to struggle round   the  adjoining property, stacked full of bric a brac etc to locate my parcel. It was, according to the delivery text message,  left on my door step. Well, it was no where near it-rather in an unlimited heap of goods. WHY? I have an easily visible sign on my front door asking that parcels and mail be put IN my hallway (the front door being unlocked). Can the driver not read?

Ebay will be losing customers right and left...but does AMAZON LOGISTICS care? It appears not.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

Yes I totally agree but who do you complain to as all my catalogue companies use them and so does eBay it’s very difficult to get them to send via someone else, plus we had a parcel travel from china fine until it hit uk and into the hands of Evri then it disappeared with two missed attempts of delivery ( a lie) and then suddenly delivered at 10-45pm but no photos or proof of delivery yes and no parcel of course, every day it states it will be delivered and 5 stops away but from where your guess is as good as mine we now have 4 parcels missing even though I ask please don’t send via Evri people still do as eBay has made it difficult to change companies when listing so now I’m finished buying and selling anything on the sites where Evri is mentioned but that don’t help me now, oh and yes I’ve complained to all the companies and sellers but again not made any difference at all

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
Same here, however on ebay you have a nanage delivery options tab when listing. From there you can unchecked Evri and it will then default to royal mail. I have done this and all good so far.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I no longer buy on eBay because I cannot prevent the item being sent by evri (hermes), and I do not want the headache. Sad really. Also all the recent continual changes on the eBay platform make for a very challenging environment as an occasional private seller. As evri does not operate in the Highlands of Scotland beyond Inverness, as no-one would work for them on the terms they offered, or agree to be a local hub due to their appalling business professionalism, eBay's insistence on becoming partners and integrating with them does not bode well. I often wonder why eBay have gone down this route, and made all these changes. To me, they were phenomenal up to 5 years ago. I often cited their customer service as the best I had ever experienced, when it was agents in Ireland to whom you spoke. Now it is just an irritating ai whom rarely solves anything, especially important issues. I lament.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I state that I will only send items via Royal Mail in the description, otherwise the transaction will be cancelled. I expect in the end, I will cancel enough items I will be kicked off the platform. I am currently using two other platforms in trial, one of which is proving surprisingly good. Sad, as I really enjoyed eBay 5 years ago.

You don't need to tell people you only use RM. Just go to Postage Preferences and toggle EVRI to OFF. Once I'd managed to find my last braincell I had the sense to do that straight away!!

Regrettably coming to the same conclusion. Ebay no longer wants small private sellers it seems. However, a new platform will rise to fill the space left behind, soon, and there are other current options. That's capitalism baby!

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

On the Isle of Skye. Neighbour returned to his house one day, and found a pile of 48 parcels from evri, lying in the rain, in his croft. Some of the parcels, on collecting and sorting where possible, were not even for this island, but others in the outer hebrides! Our local newspaper used to have a weekly cartoon highlighting evri's incompetence, some I still have on my wall. There is a local community fb page that blacklists companies that use evri so we can avoid the headache. Evri no longer operate in the Highlands beyond Inverness, but franchise out to other local couriers. There are as I understand it, no collections, and no-one is prepared to act as a hub due to appalling prior experiences.

Wow!

That is sheer incompetance, coupled with either arrogance or ignorance but either way it is dreadful level of service.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

Well, many people not happy and as you say up until a few years ago I enjoyed eBay and set up several business outlets. My wife also has some as does my son and they sell on eBay or rather did. They buy catalogue and auction product, mostly pallet lots or large boxes. Sort it, study it, test it and photograph and go the whole nine yards to make sure it is as good as it will be. It gets displayed dependant on Clothing or Electrical etc and as I have mentioned the costs recently are starting to make it not viable but was not expecting what happen next.....

As someone else said on here if you make enough noise or refuse to comply they thought they would get chucked off. Well my wifes income as my sons partial income has been stopped. eBay pulled their account, linked up accounts to our address and have pulled anything linked to that address. They have been making things awkward for a while and I said to them that I though  eBay was trying to chuck them off. Both said "No way they need the business" but they have, removed 600 plus listing of clothing and product that was purchased in bulk and via pallet auctions so they cannot present proof of ownership for each seperate item despite showing a spreadsheet from the supplier with items listed but eBay has declined that as not proof of purchase, they even said it about secondhand goods that we have owned or used ourselves over years. Why would we have a receipt for something years old.  All trading correctly as business accounts before anyone chimes in with that one. Big hit to us in the short term, income wise, reappraising how we look at this so it is short term but ultimately eBays loss. We will move over to several different accounts and are already using shopify, our own web page/site and their rivals Vinted which is working well for my wife on the clothing side. but for us as a business model, well more fool for relying on eBay which has gone down hill massively but if they are doing this to others for whatever reason then they will see there own turnover hit. I said we were buying less and have complained on here about risings costs and the exclusive use of Evri and now EBay has pulled the plug on us and we have been so totally legit about trading on the platform. Its kind of a goodbye as if we are not allowed to sell on eBay and we are not buying on eBay what is the use of eBay! If you read this and rely on eBay watch out, I am not paranoid, its happened they dont like complaints....
