Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

There are highs and lows for many delivery companies. Sometimes, we, as a business find one is ok for a period and then we have to move to another. Staff seems to be the key, rather unsurprisingly but we keep our options open and on many days use multiple companies. I have seen complaints about royal mail, Yodel and Evri (Hermes) most recently but to date I have to say that being a small seller and sending up to 11 or 12 packages a day Royal Mail works for us. But buying is a different matter and this is where I join in others by asking why does eBay continue to support a company like Evri, who to us, has failed consistantly to deliver or even when it has finally got to us the delivery is substandard, smashed, broken. I am yet again awaiting a package costing over a 100.00 and being resold as part of another set of items. three days after its last due date its not here and tracking has stopped, you dont know where it is, just the intended date and delivery but marked as delayed. This has happened so many times that now I pre empt and ask sellers not to send via Evri and if they have, as soon as it is delayed I start asking, using all the email address I have for Evri and eBay providing the tracking numbers. It costs me time that I could use elsehwre but this is because out of each three items lost I may actually get one by being quick. Seriously this is how many iotems go missing, get lost, are broken or the lates one is "destroyed" Sellers please understand, using Evri will end up taking a lot more time, cost you more money and probably losing the sale. By the same implication this must be costing eBay, who we know is all about the money, one hell of a lot of money. Evri may be cheap but they dont do the job. The mistake by many sellers is they dont understand that they have a reposnability to ensure the item gets to the buyer and not that it ends when they hand it over to the courier who is only contracted by them to deliver. In our case that contract has been broken many times and has cost sellers time and lost sales while eBay has had to fork out a lot of money in compensation. For us its loss of business, lost sales, while we will never use Evri to send we still have sellers we buy from keen on the "cheap" price and dont realise its false economy.

If you have bad service from Evri please complain, lets raise this profile and either get them to understand that its not about chat bots and automation, its the people they use to deliver, to handle and its obvious they are not motivated. Whats the use in having such a basic tracking and AI when the system just does not know where your package is or where it has been delivered or what to do about it when it is gone...... Somewhere in the ether of Evri.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

So sorry to hear, its the same story, time and time again. We all want
cheap, but there is inexpensive and "Cheap". The model that Hermes/Evri
use, while in practice looks good and can work but involves self employed
people on a minimal per package which, given human nature does not work.
The drivers want the bulk drops and the next to each other drops, anything
that involves cost or extra time is not in their favour. They actually pick
and choose parcels, deliberately missing the ones that take an effort. I
know that as I have been told by someone from our local hub. The parcel
sits, label defaced in some cases to avoid delivery. No one knows where it
is, iot gets knocked about, put in the non delivery storage and finally
disposed of. The chat bot does not know this and as for saying your
postcode does not exist I have had many, many attempts and always the same
"Sorry that postcode is not recognised" and then you start again. I have
recently had packages from abroad and again they get handed to Evri, why?
Because they are cheap, once its in the UK the handling agent wants the
cheapest delivery option and that is ...... Yep! you guessed it Evri. (in
most cases). This is why I mentioned this in the first place as it is
frustrating for me and must be for many others so please complain, please
ask for Evri not to be used, only by a larger action of people can we get
this damned delivery agency removed as a default or maybe, just maybe they
might listen and improve!................ Nah!

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

Again and again EVRI FAILS to deliver the item !!!! eBay are effectively FORCING sellers to use Evri and it's destroying the trust that we used to have in eBay. When companies stop listening to customer feedback, they are going into decline !!

I think the Evri motto should be never ever on time, never at the correct address !

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I will not bothering ordering off eBay now that EVRI is integrated and performing so badly. I will not be able to guarantee my item arrives on time or even arrives at all. I have had multiple issues with EVRI and their customer service is inadequate. Such a shame, eBay will see usage of its platform reduce. With PayPal and Applepay it is already much easier to buy directly from other retailers. Without reliable deliveries eBay start to look like an old fashioned /legacy platform to avoid and for younger people to ignore as an option.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

As a buyer I am now refusing anything that is Evri. In my experience it takes too long. The guy that delivers it is nice and friendly but that is all I can say that is positive and not really an advantage. As a seller of low priced items the Royal Mail costs are too high. I’m going to look at other sites.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

It is a total lottery if, once your item enters the evri black hole, if you will ever see it again! They have a 50% hit rate on deliveries for me. This means far to many unhappy buyers and frustrated sellers. I will not be using ebay to buy or sell on until this changes, I have used ebay to buy and sell for over a decade but have finally had enough, there are other platforms that can compete now.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

Agreed! It is similar to the many comments I have had since posting. The
Evri system is not fit for the purpose they claim to be. If they claim that
this is the cheapest, but not totally reliable that would be the correct
sales term. As you state it then makes it not worth while selling less
"earning items" because often delivery outweighs the profit and the effort
which eBay seems to miss. Its not so much being recompensed for the goods
as much as packaging well, care in dispatch and commnucations. When you
make minimal why should you bother even listing.

Thank you for your input

John

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I now avoid sellers who use evri, now that simple delivery hides the courier (deliberate?) I am now very reluctant to buy off private sellers. Not their fault, but one of seven deliveries arrived from evri, the rest a multitude of excuses, but never arrived.

They are without a doubt a terrible company, with an appalling reputation.

eBay really need to drop them.

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

I have happily sold and bought on eBay for over 22 years, until this week! Two separate items, both sent using Evri, one ‘out for delivery’ on Monday. Then ‘attempted delivery’ later that day, with a random photo of a parcel, without a label showing, on the ground. Nowhere near my house! 48 hours later, another parcel ‘out for delivery’. Didn’t arrive either! This time notified of ‘attempted delivery’ with a black blank photo! Goodness knows when the first or second parcel will arrive?
I am very tempted to stop transactions on eBay. I’ve never had problems with Royal Mail.
Evri AI chat bot has lead to an ‘incident’ being raised but so far only a notification. Judging by the incident numbers in 48 hours, my 2 numbers are tens of thousands apart

Re: Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver

It will be no comfort to you-but ever since Ebay began farming out deliveries to AMAZON LOGISTICS- it has been disastrous. Disabled, my parcels are not being delivered to my house, but the driver puts them into a neighbours (no 19 as opposed to my street number 21) open fronted garage/store. I have twice (in the past week), had to struggle round   the  adjoining property, stacked full of bric a brac etc to locate my parcel. It was, according to the delivery text message,  left on my door step. Well, it was no where near it-rather in an unlimited heap of goods. WHY? I have an easily visible sign on my front door asking that parcels and mail be put IN my hallway (the front door being unlocked). Can the driver not read?

Ebay will be losing customers right and left...but does AMAZON LOGISTICS care? It appears not.
