I don’t want Simple Delivery and resent that I now have to add the cost of packing to the item price as I buy in new materials to make sure my vintage pieces arrive intact. But that’s a whole ‘nother gripe for another day!
Anyway as it seems we will soon have no choice but to use Suicidal Delivery I’ve set my postage preference to Royal Mail only. I’ve posted one cheap item as a test run and I see it’s offering the buyer a choice of what is clearly RM 2nd small class parcel and RM tracked small parcel. Now either will be fine as the item is under £20 so if it gets lost or broken it would be covered either way, but what are the options if it was an item over £20? Are buyers going to be permitted to chose a cheap label and basically gamble with the under insurance? And if so and the item gets lost or broken who pays? I’m currently selling a vase on BIN at £350. Would a buyer be allowed to choose a postage option that won’t pay out more than £20 if the worst happens? What happens if it gets lost or broken? Does eBay take the hit or will they keep the £350 of my money they are holding pending delivery?
I’ve been quite happy selling high value pieces on eBay with Royal Mail insured postage but I’m really concerned about Simple Delivery and thinking I cannot afford to lose hundreds of pounds so while many people are talking about delisting cheap items I’m thinking of delisting everything over £50 and putting them on Vinterior.
