It changed for me today, apparently selling an item under 100 grams is classed as the same as a jumper and now goes tracked as a small parcel Oh and can only do Ebays very unreliable Pre-paid labels as opposed to just sending it myself....waiting for it to happen before leaving like most been here since 2007, there are far better platforms these days than Ebay and work better, I used to sell 50 a week a few years ago....if I'm lucky these days its 3 and from the sound of things it sums up Ebay on my other platform i listed 10 and 8 sold...nostalgia kept me here as a hobby....once my listings have ended that will be that

I `partly` agree Brain, Only partly because,,, I recently listed a new item,,,and yes, I did as you described,,, " switch to advanced. " selected my usual... Free to customer ,,, " Royal mail / Large letter / 2nd class/ NOT tracked. .then I listed the item as normal . All well so far.... BUT,,, today the item sold, And,,, when I went to view order details so I could copy and paste Customers info into RM click and drop website like I usually do ... I see that between me listing the item ( 5 days ago) and today... Ebay has changed MY choice of " Royal mail / Large letter / 2nd class/ NOT tracked" ( £1-55) ....... to ..... " SD / RM / SMALL PARCEL / TRACKED. " AND,,, already charged me £3-38 for the SD label that I didn`t need, or ask for. Ridiculous. ! .
Okay, It`s only a difference of £ 1.83 between the Ebay SD price, and the £1-55 I would normally have paid RM,,, but if you`re only allowing say £2 profit on the item, then most of that has disappeared into Ebay`s bank account and I am left with £0.17 . Again.... ridiculous.
. The item is less than 25mm and weighs virtually zero. and is under £10. There is no need for tracking, no need for smal parcel, and certasinly no need to pay £3-38. What annoys me most is only being able to find out Ebay has ` changed my choices ` AFTER the item has sold, and it is then too late.
Ebay should not be able to just change what I selected when I listed.
Also,,, I have checked a few recently listed item similar to above,,, (but not sold yet ) ,,, and when I go to " revise listing " ,,,,scroll down to postage,,, and see that Ebay is changing my originally selected " Offer free postage " to.......... " Buyer pays " . Again,,,,,,, not noticable unless I revise something... so ... again..... yes you guessed it......... RIdiculous !! .
None of this mularky can possibly be classed as " simple ".
Rant over.
Thanks all.

That diatribe is unreadable!

Your best option is register correctly as a business seller, then the new rules will not apply, only snag the selling fees are much higher!

Thanks Jow

Thanks again Jow,,, It`s not so much about the ` new rules `,..
For me, It`s more about Ebay being able to change the postage options that I had originally selected when i did the listing, and then me not finding out about it until AFTER the item had sold.
So to be honest, I`m still not really sure if all that is just part of the ` new rules`, or if it`s just a ` system glitch `.
Anyway,,, No doubt someone will try to help.
Thanks again for your reply,

And as a buyer paying 4% protection money in case I meet a bad seller
that’s a laugh because that’s what eBay has been doing since 1995
protecting us all. now they are charging us all who want to buy a rip
off fee we are paying the profits that eBay enjoys having shares in SD
i find it strange that this protection fee isnt real at all.... If a buyer opens a case for non delivery or return he will in turn get a full refund as before including the bpf fee... what other insurance policy do you know where you get your premium refunded when you make a claim.

It's not insurance and it's nothing to do with the money back guarantee.

So a few extra dots and commas made the whole thing unreadable diatribe ? .
Okay.
Thanks for your help Rick.

They’re not wrong.
it looks like a list of Bon Iver song titles.

They don't apply yet....but make no mistake SD will be coming to the business section near you very soon...the Private section is where they try and remove all the bugs

How would they do it? If it applies to Businesses they would need to apply it to Music Magpie. How would Music Magpie deal with it? They couldn’t, because you can be sure they’d have a full integrated system that couldn’t deal with manually downloading a label for every order. Would simple delivery labels even work with businesses who have a daily collection from couriers?
they may well try to force tracking (ie minimum is Tracked 48) but I can’t see how they could enforce the whole thing.

You followed the instructions of entering the dimensions larger than SD can handle and you didn't get the Oversized option?
