Why the heck has eBay changed the payment rules yet again? Are they trying to mimic another selling site with the same unfair policies?
After reading some comments on this subject, one reply to a member, who stated that they couldn't afford to fork out postage costs and wait until their parcel had been delivered before receiving payment (which I totally agree with), was "if that strapped for cash then really shouldn't be selling on eBay". What nonsense! In that case one wold just take items to a charity shop or bin them! The whole point of selling on eBay, I thought, was to make a bit of money, if financially well off then why bother?
I was about to start listing items for sale again, I'm trying to clear out my life of possessions because Yes, I do need the money and also because I'd like to make life a little easier for my family to cope with when I pop my clogs! I also donated a percentage of sales to charities that I think are very worthwhile but undervalued , and in need of help.
I'm really disappointed with eBay, the new rules, I think are going to affect lots of members and most likely eBay's reputation and profits too!

Add me down as another frustrated user - these new changes are a joke!
Sent an item a few days back, and multiple attempted deliveries later I'm no closer to getting my money.
Why should I be penalised because the buyer of the item wasn't home twice when royal mail tried to deliver!!!!
Pathetic.

I’ve had exactly the same problem , four times now. Whether I use Royal Mail Tracked or Evri tracked, delivery is not being updated. The first couple of times I contacted the buyers and they let me know their items had arrived, but the latest two haven’t replied to my messages. It is beyond annoying that eBay have introduced this new system. I’m seriously thinking of giving up.

That's right, but it's feedback that will prompt the release of the funds for under £10 items, not just a message from the buyer.

even though it costs a little more to post i have changed the service from first class to tracked 24 its an extra 20p for the buyer to pay and if you have items that fit through a letterbox if it fits through its classed as delivered and the tracked 24 seems to be updated every single time ,so maybe try that guys it definitely works better than your royal mail first and second class and as i said first class is £4.79 royal mail tracked 24 is £4.99 so its only 20p a difference and makes life that little bit easier

I am confused, If feedback ( for under £10 items) will prompt the release of funds how is that not a part of the " payment process?'
Your previous comment were along the lines of "buyers are not part of the payment process" - I am not trying to pick apart your comments as most make sense, but some leave me with a lack of understanding/confusion, as it appears that not only is ebay stipulating , it is the buyers also, (by the delivery of items or not) whether/when private sellers funds are " released"...

remember that the ebay code in the address ebay supply has to be intact.
Or
Add tracking number to ebay
I have been getting payments
if i do a combined shipment ( 2 orders combined to one package) then I use the code in the address ebay supply for one, and add a tracking number for the 2nd order in the tracking update. this worked.

i am also now doing Evri next day, in some cases i save 2 days wait, customer benefits too. costs an extra 80p
Massive b*ll ache for funds, i am already wrking on a self-hosted store and then work via other outlets. This simply does not work, and there is no way i am having my home address spewed across ebay if i open a business account.

Access to the " pending funds" is available to purchase ebay postal labels and/or to process refunds.
That is of course if you purchase your postage via eBay i.e Simple Delivery.
But not having used it I am unsure but it clearly states that in their terms and conditions.
I think the upfront fees would be if you were posting not using the system, and going direct, however once SD is in full force it appears that will not be an option?

Maybe a daft question...but what is the problem having your address spewed over Ebay if you correctly open a business account?
05-03-2025 3:00 PM
Presumably because you don’t have any business premises but are selling from home? Who wants their home address advertised?
05-03-2025 3:46 PM
I work from home. I have also had people turn up at my door in the past. very annoying.
Business premises would not be a problem.

My home address is advertised as i do not have a business address. Its either that or no business account.
Probably tempting fate but its not been a problem in 16yrs of trading. Very occasionally a late phone call can be a pain but very rare.

eBay not only holds your money until two days after the item you sold gets delivered but if you sell something else meanwhile they take the money for postage from the money you are waiting to receive so when it's time for you to get paid you may not get your money. This way eBay constantly holds your money, I have lost interest in selling on eBay.

Urghhh these eBay payments are ridiculous! I posted an item out 9 days ago with Royal Mail 2nd tracked…. Until you actually try to use the tracking number and it states “this is an untracked service” until it actually arrives… 9 days later!! 😡 then have to wait another 3 days for eBay to actually pay me! They’re trying to copy Vinted I my opinion- and failing badly. Again as you mention, you use the funds for paying for postage, this could be particularly difficult if you have several items to send out. Think I’m gonna ditch eBay and sell elsewhere, I’d rather do a carboot!

If there is no money in the Available section of your Payment Summary , you can use pending funds to buy postage.

I know how you feel, they are trying to be like vinted and depop, where you get your money after the items been delivered , but it takes ages!!
And you have to send stuff tracked for it to even mark as being delivered and even once it's been delivered you have to wait 2 days for the payment 🙄
I'm *bleep* poor most the time I need the little extra just for basic stuff like train fare and if im lucky enough maybe some lunch. At the moment I'm learning to drive but can only do 1½ hr lessons as it's all I can afford (well I can't really but I'm 35 & need to learn to drive so made massive sacrifices again)
Sort it out ebay!
