I have been asked by eBay to provide proof of ID.
I sent my most recent passport (expired 2022) - IT WASN'T ACCEPTED
I don't have a driving license as I have never driven
I sent a photo of my Birth Certificate (issued at birth - in the UK) - IT WASN'T ACCEPTED
Can someone please tell me what will

No they are not employed by eBay we are ordinary people who have been on eBay along time

I wasn’t happy either forking out on a passport. As last time I had a passport I had one with mums on her passport. The cheaper would be a provisional driving licence but I can’t renew that now as had to get some form of ID to get into Download Festival in 2013.

I've just had this request out of the blue. I've only sold one item in the last year although I do buy a few things.
I don't trust ebay to run a bath never mind keep my data safe so won't be sending them any photo ID. I've not had to do this for any other organisation so won't be doing it for ebay which I use to sell odd items once a flood. I'll avoid selling anything so I don't get caught out with withheld payments and other ebay pain I don't need in my life.

As above, today 11th Sept, ebay want photo ID. I don't have a valid passport, only an out dated one but which satisfies voting, and a paper driving licence with no photo. Looks like I'm about to lose access to using ebay then... despite using since 2017.
With the increasing amount of on-line fraud I am gobsmacked they want you to send them the most sensitive and useful-to-crims information - and as commented above, farming info to sell on no doubt. The only organisation I have ever provided such info to, was my employer.
In the last couple of years ebay have moved the goalposts many many times when it comes to the money side, and most noticeable recently is the VAT they can now reclaim on postage.

I've had this this morning too... well, a message saying they will be holding my payouts for 72hrs after delivery from 20th Sept, unless I verify my identity AND add tracking to deliveries.
I thought, "here we go"... I would be in the same boat as you, with only a paper driving licence and no passport.
The "Verify your identity" link took me to an error page, the "Add tracking numbers" link took me to my open orders, with an overnight sale waiting for a Simple Delivery label.
So, as usual, I print out the outstanding Simple Delivery label, and I immediately receive another message thanking me for resolving the outstanding issues, and telling me that all my seller privileges have been fully restored. Oh yes, and that going forward, I'll be paid out 72hrs after delivery 🤔
When I click on the original link telling me what issues I have to resolve, the "Verify your identity" has disappeared, but it's still telling me that I have to add tracking numbers.
What's all that about? I'm not sure what else I can do, everything goes by Simple Delivery.

In the same boat did you ever sort out your issue.

They retracted the request saying it was an error and asking for it to be ignored. Which is what I was doing anyway.
