I’ve been going mad at eBay last few days. I sold a mattress. Under £500. The buyer came, inspected it, gave me the code which I input, next day left positive feedback.
I also get an email now saying I’m a top rated seller. Great!
I see next day funds still pending and payout two weeks time. I then rang eBay and they inform me my payout is on hold. Asking why? No reason just we need the buyer to be happy with his item given the high value.
Buyer left feedback and is happy. Then I get told maybe up to 31 days but also get an email saying I’m going to recieve my funds now within 24 hours after someone pays as I’m top rated. Despite all this eBay continue to hold funds (still pending) and have confirmed now they will for two weeks!!?
Why exactly? Even if the buyer later decided he wants a refund he couldn’t get one anyway. No reason for funds held!!!!

It makes no sense, he left you even the happy feedback, you are not a shop, correct? He can't have a refund on a second hand item after 14 days. Ebay is really doing the impossible to make sellers leave, please remind them if you stop selling nobody will buy, and so even they, can't have their share, which I suppose was higher on that amount.

Have you read Ebay's guidance on payment holds?
The answer to your question should be in there.

Under the ebay money back guarantee buyers from business and private sellers can get refunds if there is something wrong with their item as long as they claim within 30 days of receipt of collection.
The money back guarantee is in addition to a buyer's statutory rights.

Then why leave feedback and stuff closing the deal and all in 2 days for private sellers?? With the new rules you had 2 days to test the item and such. I bought a faulty item, seller didn't know and tried to help, by phone Ebay just said, it is past 2 days... they need to have a grip tp themselves with this policies and choose and keep one for once. Thank you.

If eBay Customer Services told you that 2 days had passed and whether you left good feedback or not, they were wrong if they said you cannot claim for a full refund.
You have 30 days after the item's last estimated date for delivery to receive a full refund under eBay's 30 day MBG.
You have 60 days to leave feedback.
Those are the correct timelines.

I can’t understand it, the item is listed as new but it’s marked as no refunds. That aside I can’t understand why they have put a transaction hold on for 14/15 days.

Do you mean private buyers can get a refund? I can’t see what eBay are doing holding my funds.

The buyer lest positive feedback and I’ve left feedback. Surely they should release funds. I’ve called them now 4 times and they still say it’s on a hold. I’ve also noticed it says delivered on my seller dashboard but on the item transaction it says paid but not collected. They don’t seem to care at all!!

As notified above - Payment holds.
Probably this bit - vague - but a £500 mattress would come under this.
High priced items may lead to transaction holds for up to 30 days to help us ensure that buyers don't have any issues with the order

If you rarely sell items for this price, they will hold the money, it happened to me few years ago, I use to sell stuff from 5£ - 50£ and my first sale of I think it was about 70£ in long time, triggered them and I was explained it was unusually activity on my account after long time. It might be because of that.
