New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

I dont know if any private seller have noticed this. {Bottom in box}

But if i have read this right. You sell something, and when the buyer confirms they have recived the item, which would by feedback i presume, You then get paid two days after they confirm delivery.

eBay does not seem to have taken into account that a lot of sellers never leave feedback, even when reminded. So thats bad news for sellers, i guess you dont get paid.

On the plus side for eBay. They have got the buyers money. So if they dont have to pay you because the buyer wont leave feedback. Profits going up.

I also note this only applies to private sellers in the UK.

Now, to give your buyers even more confidence when shopping, UK-based private sellers will be paid after item delivery, from 4 Feb. Your funds will be available in your eBay balance two days after delivery confirmation.*** We know it's important to get your money fast, so we recommend using a tracked delivery service either through Simple Delivery, or arranging for local collection.

Definitely earning so they said there’s no more fees and now this, they had to get their money somehow it’s so annoying I’m really done, how worrying it feels to send things and you’ve not been paid for them!

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

I’ve just seen an advert on the tv saying it’s now free to sell on ebay!!!! No it’s not, it costs your peace of mind, worrying that it gets there ok, worrying that the seller leaves you feedback to get paid, worrying that someone as not just bought your items to use then send back. It’s really unfair on the seller’s especially if you’ve been selling for years with no complaints. This as been done for one reason only, to earn eBay more money but it’s a shame they can’t honest about it.
it’s now free to sell on eBay but we will keep everyone’s money for a while to make ebay even richer while your worrying about your parcel getting there and the buyer leaving feedback then a week after the buyer as paid for the item you’ve sent off we might let you have YOUR money. (Doesn’t sound as catchy as the advert)

If it’s supposed to be to protect the buyer why don’t they let the buyer keep hold of the money till they get the item. It’s not to protect buyers or sellers it’s to earn ebay even more money. It’s a shame that people like me that are selling things to make ends meet on top of my full time job have to be given even more worry because the rich want to get richer.

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

Agree with you. Everything you buy online requires immediate payment. Why ebay hold sellers money ? is not a bank or maybe it is now with the new terms dated on 4 Feb.  If you sell something on 01 March for example and ebay shows you funds will be available on 20 March them send item on 20 March when funds will be available. Dispatch 2 Days. delivery can take upt to 3-4 days and once delivered another 2 days to release funds. that means almost 1 week ebay hold or use our money.

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

If you don't send your item until the 20th March you are opening yourself up to bad feedback, a claim for item not received, and a selling defect.

You either need to go by the rules and post when ebay tells you the buyer has paid, or not sell on ebay.

Except funds won't be available then, because by then the buyer will have opened an Item Not Received case, won it and had their money back. So all that gets you is a defect.

The buyer does pay immediately eBay hold onto to that and only release the funds once delivered i suspect the disparity is a processing period and most will see it exactly once delivered rather than wait a couple of days. No tracking 14 days beyond last estimated date,

But it really isn't rocket science.

Live long and prosper

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

Frankly I am sick of ebay. Over the last year they have removed so many of
my adverts for stupid things. Refund buyers even when I have proof of
posting. I have just had enough. I am in the process of building my own
website. They can stick there new rules where the sun don't shine.

Yes. They are treating their account holders with contempt and bad school children. Best thing is to walk away. The new CEO should be ashamed.

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

I’m confused about the difference between my sale price and the buyer price for when /if a package ever goes astray and you need to claim from Royal Mail or your courier.  For example, The compensation levels for RM are up to £20 for basic postage. However the sale may have gone through at over £20 now. Will the carrier claim you’ve under-insured and decline to compensate?

These changes are like being slapped by several wet fish simultaneously.

Hey sellers, you’ll have to wait for your payment until we’ve got enough interest made out of your money in our bank.

Hey sellers, if you can’t buy postage from us because you don’t have a printer for labels and don’t own a smart phone, we couldn’t give a fig.

Hey sellers, if you get feedback we’ll pay you. We know nobody gives feedback these days, so we’re pretty safe from having to pay you.

Hey sellers,  we’re charging your buyers a lot more money for your items than you or they think they’re worth, so you probably won’t sell anything….ha ha. The jokes on you!

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

You can tell sellers are not happy , just look at the callback times for payments on HOLD - 92 minutes waiting

Its never ever been that long to wait for a callback , not in the 20 years Ive been a member

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

Go online to royalmail.com and choose 'send an item now'. Choose your service and tick 'collection' and 'yes bring a label'. You'll be offered date options for collection. Note the collection postie does NOT give you a receipt so make sure you see them attach the label and scan it

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

Its not something i have much specific interest in doing, but i can see this working for one or two packages, what happens with around 20 packages of varying sizes - does the postie chap bring all the labels and attach them to your pile? Who is responsible for mis labelled packages?
