Hello, I sold an item for £3 on the 5th of February, and the funds are still pending 8 days later on the 13th Feb! Is this one of those cases where the funds are pending delivery? If this is the case, how can I prove delivery since I sent the item 2nd class with no tracking?
Thanks, James.

Hi, I don't usually send low value items by tracked post. I've been selling such items this way for years, and I've never had problems with the funds not being released.

I posted a parcel 2nd class signed for on the 8th February the tracking says its still in the post office, but the buyer has this item since 13th February. I have been told that I will have to wait 40 days and then a 2nd ebay customer services said it was 30 days. My account is still pending and now I dont know if I will ever get my money. I have had feedback from the buyer but ebay told me this is meaningless and does not prove anything. If it was not tracked I have no idea, what the truth is, but I had tracking and ebay dont believe me, that the buyer has the item. I am getting fed up with this. I also hand delivered a parcel I have a picture of this being delivered and a picture of the home. I have been told that this was no proof I delivered as I have not put a tracking number I told them I had delivered, but they did not believe me either.
So without any tracking I dont know how you will get paid, I have evidence and feedback but Ebay dont recognise either.

Thanks for that information. My issue I have some buyers that will not communicate with me and one I also posted this week is saying still in the post office. I have contacted them to ask if they got it, why are people so horrible just to answer and say yes.
They refuse to answer.
I had one that said dont contact me after 6 weeks with no response. So if I cannot get an answer I will still I have to wait for 30 days for payment.

I have had this with many they dont leave feedback and dont reply. Even one had my delivery for 6 weeks and then left me neutral feedback with no communication. I have reported them to Ebay, insulting my item.
So if my item says still in the Post office, which one is currently since the 8th February. I will never get paid, as I said in my previous posts I have been told I have to wait for 30 days.

Until recently, this wasn't even an issue. Once the buyer paid, I posyed their item & marked it as dispatched. After a couple of days, the funds were available to spend or transfer to my bank account.

This new way of holding payments for 14 days is ridiculous, to send my items tracked would cost more than I charge for the item itself and the buyer protection is BS because if an item doesn't get delivered we are still liable for the full refund so we are actually paying ebay a % for what? just to list the item it would seem. 8 out of 10 buyers don't bother leaving feedback at all. private sellers are going to leave in their droves because I for one will not be forced to use a tracked service. I will continue to use Royal Mail 2nd class large letter if I make any sales at all now and I won't hold my breath! Ebay sort yourselves out!!

That's exactly the way I feel! The only way I can make any money at all from selling coins, is to post them 2nd class. Any tracking would add to the postage cost making it cost as much if not more than the item itself.

Hi, I’m a bit late to the party as I’ve not listed for so long and wondered why my funds were being held. I’ve read through all your replies.
I use to pay for the postage of my items when I received the funds which included postage, so now to have to pay for postage up front?!
Does posting using Evri who give a tracking number perhaps help get funds more quickly?
I’ve listed quite a few items and now got to fork out postage? Madness especially relying on a parcel to be marked as delivered and someone to leave feedback?
Where’s the encouragement to sell gone? I will post these items and see how long it takes for the money to show before I list anything else! 😞

I agree, it's not good. I also used to wait for the buyer to pay, then posted the item. Now I have to post when they pay, but then have to wait for 14 days for access to the funds! I always send a message asking buyers to leave some feedback when they receive their item, but usually they don't...

Well, it works! I sold an item 3 days ago, and the funds would have been held till 6th April. But I requested feedback from the buyer, and they obliged, and the money is now available in my eBay balance!

If you buy your postage via ebay you can use your pending balance to pay for it, obviously won't work if you buy directly from royal mail. But its a choice if no spare cash.

To be honest, my local post office is just round the corner, so it's easier for me to pop round there & post my items. I'm not familiar with the Evri service, and how much it costs- is the cost comparable to Royal Mail?

Depend what your sending parcels it cheaper but large letters it more,
But they mange to lose 20million parcels a year so you really do take your chances.
Royal do lose things but not that many!

Thanks for the info- actually, most of the items I sell are small (letter or large letter size), so from what you say I'm probably better off using Royal Mail. As you rightly say, it's very rare for Royal Mail to lose anything, and they are generally very fast, often delivering within 1-2 days even with second class postage. I have to say, I'm very impressed with Royal Mail, even though they do keep putting their prices up all the time...

The only downside is that you have to wait for the funds to clear..

I currently have about £50 waiting to clear on my account. One item was sent tracked a couple of weeks ago but not marked delivered by Royal Mail. The buyer has left positive feedback but it still says 'awaiting delivery' according to ebay. It's a nonsense.

That's a very good point, actually- having praised Royal Mail previously, their tracking system is one area which is not very good. When sending or receiving items, I'd say that roughly 50% don't get marked as delivered even when they have been, and there's no way to correct this. Maybe a tick box for the recipient with "Mark as delivered" could work? Maybe for the above item it might be a good idea to get in touch with either Royal Mail or eBay (or both)? I know with Royal Mail you can complete an online complaint.
I've been lucky the last few times (since the new rules) that my buyers were cooperative, and agreed to leave me good feedback when I asked them to, but as you say, not everyone is so helpful...

so maybe this is how ebay make money from sellers now that they are not charging listing fees?
