Hello, I sold an item for £3 on the 5th of February, and the funds are still pending 8 days later on the 13th Feb! Is this one of those cases where the funds are pending delivery? If this is the case, how can I prove delivery since I sent the item 2nd class with no tracking?
Thanks, James.

It will be subject to the new payment system and without tracking you will have to wait the full 14 days, at the moment anyway. The new feedback rule comes in later this month.

Thanks for your reply.
Wow, 14 days to wait for my money to clear?? Just as well it's only £3!
So will this be the case for all sales where I havn't used tracked postage? What's the new feedback rule?

This is the announcement about that feedback rule:
We’ve also heard your feedback and understand that shipping costs are particularly top of mind for low price items. When you’re selling a single item for £10 or less, and it’s sent untracked, funds will now be available 24 hours after you receive positive buyer feedback. This will be live by the end of February.

Ah, thanks for that! So it's a good idea to encourage buyers to leave us positive feedbac asap..

I realise most buyers do not leave feedback, and I would never usually recommend this, but sending the buyer a polite message, asking if they would kindly leave some feedback, explaining with eBay's new rules, payouts from sales are not released until a buyer leaves feedback.
Think most buyers then would leave some ?

Oh, so are you saying that funds are not released at all until positive feedback is received from the buyer?
Or are they held back for a long time, eg 14 days, if no feedback is received? I can't imagine that they would be held back indefinitely, since some buyers would probably never leave feedback, and would probably ignore any messages to do so!

There are different ' levels ' of release for payouts.
With tracking showing delivery, payout is released 2 days after that delivery date.
No tracking showing delivery, payout is held for 14 days before release.
For neither of the above does feedback have any play in a quicker release of money from sales.
Items under the value of £10 do not need tracking, here, if buyers leave feedback, payouts are released after 2 days.

Aha, thanks! However, my item only sold for £3, but funds are still held back 8 days later! But did you say earlier that's just until the new rules come into play?

The feedback rule for items under £3 comes in at the end of February.
For that £3 item with no tracking, looks like you may have to wait 14 days.

Whatever you do, do NOT ask the buyer for feedback more than once
That's considered by many buyers to be harassment and may get you NEGATIVE feedback which won't release your funds
So if you have asked, and they didn't do it, you will just have to wait 14 days

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks, I've sent a message to the buyer, so let's see if they leave me some feedback. Looking again at the listing, I see that there's a note on it saying "Funds pending – in eBay balance 20 Feb" which is about right, as my item sold on the 5th of February...

not true. I sent it tracked but Royal Mail failed to scan it, I asked the buyer for a feedback, she left it and my money is still on hold for 14 days.

Feedback does not change anything. You still will wait 14 days if tracking does not show as delivered.
15-02-2025 4:27 PM
I don't know why eBay have to keep- changing things!

They are a business. Businesses try to adapt. Unfortunately, ebay's attempts show despair as nothing seem to be thought-through and organised.

Hi you may not have sent it tracked but you must have a proof of postage receipt for when you sent it If you sent it by Royal Mail it won’t show until it is delivered , any other courier give you a reference number that you can use to see where your item is.
16-02-2025 12:43 AM
Better if you send items tracked.

If you sent it tracked it should show when it was delivered.Check your tracking number on the courier website. I send it tracked48 always with Royal Mail and I buy my postage through eBay so when it’s delivered it is automatically updated on your account.
