eBay asking me to verify my bank account, whilst withholding my customer payments

Hi folks, 

Is anyone else being asked in the eBay app to verify their bank details? 

My funds are being with-held, despite me having the eBay account for 21yrs and my same bank for over a decade. 

They even moved funds into it on 4th March 2025, so it is clearly fine.

My bank says there is no problem and I should check it's not phishing. 

Ebay Customer Services Rep can't explain why it's happening. 

Suggested ways to verify include uploading your bank details which takes me to my bank's parent company rather than my actual bank, so I can't log in. I have been told that funds will be held by Ebay, until I produce statements (I do my banking on my phone and don't have a printer - so how?)

And I am now waiting for a series of micro-payments to come through, to ensure that the bank details are correct. When I make a payment, my phone tells me if the recipient details match the account name - why can't eBay do that?

Surely their successful payment from eBay to my bank on 4th March 2025 (less than a week ago), proved that the details were fine?

And shouldn't the newly introduced "Buyer Protection fees" cover this? 

It simply means that eBay will hold on to my kids' packet money for an extra week and earn interest off it - and all the other people to whom they do this.

I don't think it's right.

(It's not the sum, but the new ways this corp are extracting funds from us hard working sellers.)

Further these steps are able to be copied by scammers and make the site less safe, not more. 

Anyone else having similar issues?

Thanks - this one is real - I called eBay to check. 

But this is a great list of pointers.
