Does anyone know why eBay now ban the sale of VIP Mobile Numbers?

I have had an eBay shop for 20 years with 100% feedback and 5 stars across the board - recently I've been having increasing success selling sim cards which just happen to have memorable numbers (again with 100% customer satisfaction).

Sadly this weekend every single listing of mine was removed by eBay and a major source of income for me has vanished in one fell swoop, forcing me to now search for alternative routes to market.

I was a very happy eBay seller and eBay evangelist until now & would welcome any suggestions as to exactly why eBay have done this?

how odd, I've just Googled - VIP Mobile Numbers - and the first result is an eBay seller with quite a stock for sale and they are registered as a private seller.

They're probably mine as well!

I sold the less good ones there for £9.99.

Unfortunately eBay are busy removing those also - they just haven't removed them all yet!

I had between 1000 and 2000 listed altogether and was turning over over £1000 per month.

Would be good to know exactly why this is happening?

Sadly it seems that VIP memorable number sellers have become 'collateral damage' in eBay's zeal to stop sellers sharing their own phone numbers and email addresses to do business away from eBay.

Initially the takedowns just stated 'personal information' violations but latest states

"Please understand you listed " vip gold / diamond / platinum number sim cards " which is prohibited on sales on ebay . Kindly do not relist such items on site".

It is a great shame as due to the takedowns (and my re-listings!)  I was getting my best sales ever!!!

(Goes to show that eBay number one tip about increasing sales by removing listings and relisting really does work!).

I shall still continue selling other items on eBay but VIP number sales on eBay are now sadly finished I think.
