Tracked item states delivered by buyer says they didn't get it?

I sold an item and sent it via Ebay's tracked delivery system. The item is shown as delivered but the recipient says they didn't get and now they are raising a claim. What am I supposed to do?

Contact ebay about it.   You can request a callback on here:

If you used Simple Delivery and ebay are accepting that the buyer did not receive it ebay should be issuing the refund themselves and you keep the payment.   Check that is going to happen, and if not why not.

Ask the buyer to check with their neighbours.    They are very unlikely to win their claim.   eBay go by the tracking.

I have asked them to check with their neighbours etc... Now Ebay is asking me to refund them "and we'll credit eligible fees to your account" What does this mean?

Did you send by simple delivery?

If you didn't,  and you have put the tracking showing delivery into the case, ebay should not be asking you to refund.

Something seems off here.

It sounds like the tracking number is not on ebay.    Did you use the ebay simple delivery postage label?

Contact eBay & give them a scan of the Courier's delivery.

Re: Tracked item states delivered by buyer says they didn't get it?

I used Ebay's simple delivery system - printed the label at home and then brought it to the post office. Carrier was Royal Mail and it went by second class tracked. On the Ebay system it shows as being delivered with tracking data. Sorry, I only really started selling this year and this is the first time I have had to deal with this. Seems off - that I do everything Ebay asks and then I am penalised into giving a refund. Surely all a buyer has to do is get a package and then deny it arrived...then they get it for free or am I missing something. All dialogue is going via Ebay's system.
