Tax ?

Does anyone know why I ebay have taken  tax from me when purchasing a camping item costing £40  going from a UK address to a UK address?

I am 99% certain that this is VAT on the buyer protection fee, and possibly on the postage.  Both are vatable services provided by ebay to you.

How much was the VAT?  Had it been charged on the item it would be about £7.
