Seller has selected a different postal option

Hi everyone,.

I sold an item yesterday (c£70) and I added Parcelforce Tracked 48 postage at £12.35 to allow for the weight (10kgs) and compensation cover (up to £150).  The auction completed and the buyer paid the £12.35 for postage but when I went to print the label, the buyer selection was "Parcelforce Express 48" which cost £13.63.  I read the online help guides which state sellers are unable to change the postal service selected by the buyer  so this has cost me more to send (only a very small amount, but it's the principle!) but more importantly, the compensation doesn't cover the cost of the item if anything happens in transit.

As I only provided one postage option, does anyone know how the buyer was able to pick a different, faster and more expensive service please?  Thanks for any advice that can be provided!

Your listing only stated Parcelforce 48 with a price of £12.35.

There is a Parcelforce Express 48 for £12.95 and a Parcelforce Express 24, for £13.45, but the buyer can only choose what is on the listing.

The prices below are for PO and online purchases, are you buying through ebay instead and are you absolutely sure you are being asked to pay for the label?

I would buy the postage online, then even the express 24 is cheaper than you charged on the listing.

Thanks for the really fast reply!  I must have made a typo on the postage charge in my advert but I definitely only added Parcelforce tracked 48, not express, so I was confused when the buyer had selected this.

Good suggestion re buying the postage online though (presumably directly from the Post Office) - I didn't know you could do this, I thought you could only use the postage label that comes through from ebay.  Yes, I definitely had to pay for it.

I've only sold a few things - still quite new to ebay - but tbh, the simple delivery service (which I can't seem to find an opt in/opt out button!) and trying to claim money back from Yodel for damaged they caused in transit, is exasperating!
