Scent booster washed items

Hi, is there any way to get a message out to all eBay clothes sellers to ask them not to wash their items with strongly perfumed products?  I am severely allergic ( asthma and skin) to these products, as are many people, and by the time I have washed them out they have usually shrunk so I cannot wear them anyway.  After all, if a buyer likes their clothes to have a strong scent then they can add it themselves.

Any ideas?

That would be impossible, and in any case could not be enforced, so you would be no better off.

Re: Scent booster washed items

As @john1297576  explains it would be impossible to enforce especially as the rule for selling clothing is that they are clean,  so would they do need to be washed ,  and a specific washing powder/ liquid could not be enforced to be used.

I do agree , some softeners or sprays have an incredibly strong smell, if you do have allergies to these conditioners and soap detergents,  personally I would send the seller a kind message asking if a strong smelling cleanser has been used, or to try and  perhaps buy only Brand New listed items ?

Thanks tressygirl.
My intention was not to enforce a blanket rule but to politely ask the community in general if they would consider it. But I guess asking individually will do if there is no other I am at least glad that you agree sometimes the scent is very strong.
Thanks for your support.

I'm afraid you're wasting your time. There's no such thing as a meaningful "eBay community" any more. Last time I checked I think the number of UK users alone was around 20 million - and we know from questions asked here that hardly any even seem to read the user agreement - let alone how they should be washing clothes!

The reality is that eBay itself even warns buyers that "they do not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of descriptions". eBay is a jungle.

If you have a severe allergy you need to be prepared to check used items carefully before wearing them. Or if the risk is too great, buy new and somewhere else.
