How have you been scammed?
You can only ask seller to cancel, they may not agree.
03-04-2026 5:31 PM
I know as price was cheap, I tried to buy same toy yesterday . And now I see seller has copied exact same photo as genuine seller had .
03-04-2026 5:42 PM
Also, ive noticied it says ‘bank transfer ‘ in the title of the advert… which would break EBay selling guidlines , has he done this to fool AI? So, do I wait 3 days and then claim refund ? I feel silly to have been caught out this way - I buy and sell many Star Wars toys
03-04-2026 5:56 PM
Sorry - a 3rd reply - this might sound weird , I just bought a much cheaper toy for £15 from a different seller , and they are asking me to confirm name and adress for posting… there is no need for them to do this as labels are generated at post office. Is someone attacking my account ? Seems a strange coincidence
03-04-2026 5:58 PM
For your first query, the money back guarantee will protect you.
For your second, that is weird. Ebay will give them your name and address.
03-04-2026 6:05 PM
I appreciate your replies , no phone line seems to work now for eBay - did you see my point about ‘bank transfer ?’ That seems like a scam to me too… hate being caught out like this.

They can ask for bank transfer they can ask for bit coin, but the only acceptable forms of payment are shown on eBay checkout.
If you have purchased from them then to pay, you select an option at eBay checkout.

If you pay seller by bank transfer, they won't get your address.
You also won't get ebay protection.

The fact that the seller copied the exact same photo from another seller's listing doesn't in itself make the listing fraudulent. eBay now allows any seller to copy and use any other seller's photos and descriptions.
It would have helped us to help you if you had explained exactly how and when you paid, and what response you received to your cancellation request.
Has the seller agreed to this - through eBay, not just in messages? If they disn't agree to your request to cancel you will have to wait until after the latest estimated delivery date, then if it hasnt arrived open an item not received case under eBay's money back guarantee. If it arrives, but doesn't match the description, you can open an item not as described case instead. Otherwise you can only return it if the seller's returns policy in the listing is to accept returns. Unless, of course, it was delivered after the latest estimated delivery date, when eBay will entitle you to treat is as not as described and return it under the money back guarantee.
All of the above assumes that you were not misled into payng by bank transfer, which would remove all protection provided by eBay.

Wow
so first seller of £200 toy , has bank transfer in title - and I send money as usual through ebay
then i buy a toy for £15 from a differnt seller , who wants my name and address - which would actually point to me being the fraudster - seems too coincidental. Obviously I paid both though eBay channels… this seems deeply weird and coincidental , as you say eBay guarantee will help me to not stress out too much, but something seems deeply wrong .
03-04-2026 6:37 PM
Also
The £200 toy has zero feedback, so I can see that they’re a scammer now
but the £15 toy has quite a lot of feedback - although 93% - so not quite a perfect seller .
03-04-2026 6:43 PM
I paid for both using correct ebay channel. Very soon after - I hit ‘cancel order ‘ / and since then silence
I have neither paid or given out my bank detials
so I’m hoping eBay guarantee will save me. Meanwhile - seller gets my £206… and bizarrely another seller asks for my name and address. Which has never happened before . Wish eBay had a fraud team.
03-04-2026 6:49 PM
So, current status is ‘cancellation requested ‘
my guess is , they will never accept cancellation.. then post something that is not the item. Then I open am appeal.
just don’t know how the scammer benefits out of this … I have 1200 feedback and he has zero
wish i could speak to someone on phone - after 10 years dealing in Star Wars . I don’t think I can do this again . Appreciate the pit answers - but there is no human to talk to on phone, scammers know this I guess .

We need an eBay helpdesk, a human to speak to …. 10 years I’ve bought and sold on eBay … I sense my account has been hacked. So I’ve frozen my bank account too. What is going on at eBay that they no longer offer phone support . This was my hobby and a big and interesting part of my life, that I’m now way to hesitant to pursue .

tobias has given you the correct link for contacting Customer Support, may I also add, try contacting CS only very first thing when lines for live agents open at 8 a.m. on weekdays, as then, there's more chance of Dublin answering.
For this type of issue, I would recommend only talking to them. Being a Call Back option you'll hear if it's the dulcet tone from the Emerald Isles.
04-04-2026 7:59 AM
Thank you
but I guess this means I have to wait until Tuesday due to Easter holiday
meanwhile , seller has sent me messages calling me ‘snitch’ and ‘grass’
how nice
wish this could be sorted without waiting another 3 days - eBay should easily be able to read his abusive messages .
04-04-2026 8:03 AM
The lines open at 9 a.m. to day, try then Dublin may answer, as said, you'll hear if it's Ireland calling.
I only suggest speaking to Ireland as other CS international sites do tend to read from a script, and I fear this may not be looked at, at the level you need.
Good luck, please come back with any , hopefully, good result !

You need to be completely clear with CS what your real problem is, don't bombard them with issues.
The expensive item will have to be dealt with under the money back guarantee, if necessary. I suggest you don't talk to them about that because they can't help at this point. The same goes for the cheaper item, you will either get it or you won't, and the money back guarantee will cover non receipt.
Ebay won't do anything about the messages.
Which leaves your suspicion that your account has been hacked. They can help you secure that.

Firstly
Back in 2019, my account was hacked - and they started ordering items that I had zero knowledge of .
So I know eBay can be hacked
secondly
yesterday, a completely separate purchase / the seller asked me to confirm my name and address. I said I wouldn’t , so he cancelled order.
both were Star Wars items as that’s the thing I buy and sell 90% of time
I’ve now frozen my actual bank account as a precaution
appreciate everyone’s help , I’m feeling less alone now
been selling on eBay for 23 years now
