I will try to keep as short as possible but recently I was scrolling back through old purchases/payments and I came across something very strange, in 2022 I got a winning bid on an item for £1510 total but the next day the seller cancelled the item but £1510 payment got taken out of my bank account and strangely I only got something called a partial refund of only £1 (yes you read that right only £1 refund) so £1509 got taken out of my account and I never received the item.

Dont ask me how I did not spot this at the time but I can only guess that I saw the words refund and did not think anything further about it.

I assume this was some sort of bug or scam but is there anything that can be done to retrieve my money after such a time period has passed? I have messaged the seller but he is ignoring me as you would expect.

If you didn't notice £1510 going missing from your bank account nearly 3 years ago, there is absolutely nothing you can do about it now. The £1 partial refund could be a red herring, perhaps it refers to a different transaction.

Thanks for the reply, I have looked into detail in both my bank account and paypal and indeed £1510 go taken out and I only received £1 back.

That's terrible, but there is nothing that eBay or PayPal can do. Or your bank at this late stage, I believe that they have a 13 month cut off.

Ok, I would say I am not sure how it happened or how they were able to do a partial refund but could it be a glitch in which case is there a special department on ebay that could retrieve or give compensation?
