Permanent Suspension

Hi,

My Husband set up an Ebay account yesterday and purchased one item. Overnight he has a couple of Ebay messages to say his account is permanently suspended. Does anybody know why this would happen?

We are other members and don't have access to your husband's account or any past history he may have with Ebay.

If he previously had an account which was banned, or is associated in any way with an account which was banned, that could be why this account has been closed.

However, that is entirely speculation.

Unfortunately, as is often reported in this forum, Customer Services are not allowed to discuss with members why their account has been permanently suspended so he may never know the actual reason.

Keep your fingers crossed that your account is not permanently restricted as well.

When eBay restricts an account, they also restrict other accounts that they "associate" with the restricted account - typically other users at the same address or who have used the same connected device.

This is to prevent restricted sellers from starting up again using a family member or friend's account, but it can be very hard on victims. We once heard from a seller whose eBay shop had been closed overnight due to the activities of his teenage son on another account.
