Items for hire permitted?

I almost 'bought' a canopy for sale on eBay, but on reading the small print it said it was only for a period of hire. I nearly missed that and would have paid nearly £300 for nothing!

Does eBay allow this?

Surely it would be better in a separate category?

I actually reported it, but the case was closed by eBay.

Ebay does not allow services to be listed as if they are tangible items, in fact, the policy is that only tangible items can be sold.  If you reported the listing then the stupid AI bot presumably saw nothing wrong.

Had you paid you would probably have been covered by the money back guarantee.
