I bought an anime statue from Japan recently. When I opened the box, I find so many yellow stains on the item, hard to remove.
I contacted the seller for several times. He always passed the buck, by saying he never met this situation before, it was new and sealed so it should have no problem, etc.
I contacted an agent (from Germany) and she advised me to inform the seller about the refund request. I did it. Then the seller just wouldn't offer a solution and even falsely accused me of fraud. I have never met such a terrible person on eBay.
I contacted another agent in the UK and reported all the details. He advised me to start a return case directly by the reason of ‘not as described’ and upload all the photos. I did just that.
What do you think?

You should have read the Ebay Money Back Guarantee.
It is on every page and states: Get the item you ordered or your money back. Learn more
There was no need to repeatedly contact agents or the seller, you simply needed to start a return.

As soon as you receive an item that is not as described, for whatever reason, you open a return case on ebay. The seller then has time to reply so no need to contact them separately. If they don't accept the return you escalate the case to ebay after 3 working days and they will enforce it.

Thank you for your reply.
I just be too careful to handle the return as I made mistakes before by selecting the wrong return reason. So I always contact the agent first. Maybe the German agent was not that professional so she asked me to awkwardly speak to the seller, and you know the seller can just pass the buck easily.
Anyway, I have just started the return case as ‘not as described’ with enough evidence. Let’s see how it goes.

I just be too careful about return. So I always contact the agent first. Maybe the first agent was not that professional so she asked me to speak to the seller in person and ask for a refund, which is quite awkward. It depends, to my experience some good sellers would give you a solution immediately refund or replacement. However, this time is a hell. Anyway, I have started a return case with enough evidence. Let’s see how to goes.

That may have happened in transit when the plasticisers evaporate from being in the hold of an aeroplane if travelling from Japan. As they cannot escape They will condense potentially on the figure causing the discolouration. So having worked with many Japanese people in the past who are very honourable I can quite believe it when they say they have never come across this before.
however as previously mentioned you should have read the eBay mbg and get a case open.

Thanks for your reply.
I have opened a case with evidence.
To be honest, I don’t think this Japanese seller is that so-called honourable. Believe it or not, he just passed the buck and insulted me. Where are the good Japanese sellers?
