I have been scammed and eBay have really let me down. They haven’t helped me so instead I’m having to see if I can get my refund through PayPal, I’m just wanting to know how successful a refund through PayPal will be if eBay have closed my case. The photo I have attached is what I received instead of an iPhone 16 pro max. Have eBay got their heads stuck in the clouds, do they not believe people are getting scammed when we contact them

What ebay case did you open?

It should have been not as described. 

Once you open PayPal case, ebay one closes.

So stick with PayPal now.

Did you accidentally open an item not received case instead of a 'received wrong item' return?

If you did, the seller will have a tracking number showing delivery, so you will lose an eBay item not received claim.

What claim have you opened in PayPal's resolution centre?

I spoke to someone rather than opening a case on the app, he was a lot friendlier than eBay. I have made a few mistakes with this purchase. It was never my intention to buy the product, I just made an offer completely forgetting that once he accepts the payment goes out in full. I also asked him immediately to cancel as I had purchased in error and he ignored that, updating the status to dispatched a few hours later on a Sunday. I just knew something was off so once he updated his status I went in like an idiot and selected return as ordered in error, he refused and eBay closed the case. Pathetic from eBay as even when I rang them and explained what had happened there was no process to override a closed return.

You will need to rely on PayPal now.  Just make sure you open the right case this time. 

Providing you follow the rules there is no reason why you shouldn't get a refund.
