I purchased, through Ebay, fro Ninja Kitchen, a refurbished air fryer which has a broken handle. I contacted Ninja who gave me an "Uplift Number" and told me to contact Ebay and give this number and they would send me a new unit. All I get from the chatbot is about returning an item and I can't make them understand. Ninja did a video of the problem before they gave me the number. What can I do now?

Ebay will not send you a new unit and an uplift number would not be eligible on ebay.
A case of opening a return request citing damage for a refund

When did you buy this item, this is important.
If you are still within 30 days of the item's last estimated date for delivery, then listen to the seller's excuses / promises no more, you are entitled to a full refund. The sending of ' promised ' parts cannot be enforced.
So if you are within that timeline, just proceed this way:
Go right of the item in your Purchase History, and from More Actions select Return this item, selecting the reason... Item Does Not Match Description or Photos.
The seller has 3 days to accept the case, if they don't , you need to escalate on day 4, or within 30 days, and eBay will step in and force the refund.
If the seller wants the item back first, they need to pay for a fully tracked return postage. On receipt of their item they have 48 hours to refund you. Again, if they don't, you escalate the case.
Do not close the case early for any excuse or promise the seller may give, and do not forget to escalate.

They're fobbing you off. The eBay chatbot doesn't understand because there is no such process as eBay sending a new unit. eBay is a selling platform, the seller is responsible for the item they've listed.
You need to open an eBay return and select the 'arrived damaged' or 'doesn't match description and photos' reason, either will do.
Your seller must then provide you with a pre-paid returns label and you return the item for a full refund.
If, after 3 business days, you haven't been provided with a label, you'll see an option to ask eBay to step in, use that.
The link to open a return can be found here on this eBay guidance page:
