How do I opt out of simple delivery?

Most items I sell are less than £10.00 and qualify for royal mail large letter. Because I pay the postage costs I need to keep it as low as possible, but with Ebay simple delivery it only gives me the option of first class large letter when I want second class large letter. How on earth do I opt out of simple delivery and choose my own costs?! I have dozens of listings to make but can't do it until this is fixed, it's becoming more and more difficult to sell on Ebay, I feel like giving up!

Sorry but you can only opt out of SD for letter items, not large letter.

Re: How do I opt out of simple delivery?

Thanks for your reply. My items only cost £1.55 RM second class is there no way of changing that? Or am I just being forced to use £2.70 RM first?

You could just buy your own postage but you'd be paying for it yourself and the delivery wouldn't be registered with ebay.

Re: How do I opt out of simple delivery?

I thought of that but how do I do that? Can I get the buyers address without triggering the postage label to be printed and Ebay automatically taking the £2.70 for postage, which is what has been happening, so I've had to suspend all my sales until I can figure it out.

Re: How do I opt out of simple delivery?

You'd have to generate the label to get the buyer's address but it won't be scanned so it won't be used.

If buyer paid for label it will be automatically refunded to them in 30 days.   If you use "free postage - seller pays" you won't get a refund for the label because you have to use a tracked service to qualify.
