I have been receiving messages saying that an item that I sold a year ago and was collected has not been delivered. 
“We didn’t receive valid proof of delivery from you. Sellers must provide tracking information showing the item was delivered to the address provided in the order details.” 

The person making the claim is not the person I sold it to.  The message from eBay says they are refunding the buyer from my account.

That sounds like a spam email message so best delete it,as ebay do not refund payments after 30 days and the grammar in the message is also not ebay speak.

That's got to be a spoof.   eBay's deadline for claims is only 30 days.   And why would it come from someone else.
