Hello I would like to hear your thoughts/views on this please as I'm left feeling very annoyed and frustrated
I sold a very expensive surveying drone last week as spares or repair I stated in my add
(selling as spares or repair spare parts only sold as seen I give no garentee as it doesn't work thanks collection only I will not post this item)
The guy collected in person from my house we sat and he had a good look at it before he took it I gave him the choice to leave it if he was unsure he was very happy with it then 4 days later he requests a refund he said due to item does not match the description I was shocked I rung ebay the same day and I asked what do I do now as I don't want to give the guy a refund as this drone is still £30,000 to buy new so as you can imagine the parts on it are very expensive and rare to find especially the thermal camera on it I don't want it returned as for all I know he could already own one and have swapped parts off it then simply got his money back he works on oil rigs so there is a very good chance he already owns one I sold it for £2000 as I think that is a very fair price considering it still cost £30,000 to buy new I rung ebay the same day he wanted a refund the women said to me don't do anything until a decision has been made on the case then you can contest it I waited 5 days then when I rung back up I was told sorry you have left it too long the buyer is now getting a refund but I was told to not do anything from the previous ebay person so now the guy still has my drone in his possession and in 2 days he will get his money back from my bank I messaged the guy he said he's off shore at the minute on an oil rig he will sort it out when he gets back to shore I have since looked and he has deleted his what's app profile picture I am frustrated as I was told off the first ebay person I need to wait then told next time I rung I should have accepted the return but I didn't want to return it there is nothing stopping the guy from keeping my drone. now to get paid I had to scan a qr code on his phone surly it should work the same way for him to get a refund he has also got to scan a qr code on my phone ebay basically turned around and said I have to try get my drone back off the guy they won't help now to me this is very unfair as a seller I feel like there is no protection at all the guy lied ebay told me what to do then told me later I should have replied when I was told not to surly the conversations are recorded they could check to see I was told to not do anything until a decision was made I feel like the guy will get his money back and also keep my drone as he's not replied since what do I do? Iv been a member for the last 7 year. And never had anyone want a refund they have all been happy

Ebay as usual gave wrong advice. Once a case is opened it should be accepted and reply paid label supplied to buyer. Failure to accept and buyer escalates to ebay after 3 days and gets refunded.
Having supplied return label you do nothing until item returned, then you refund. Then you can raise the problem with ebay, not that you will get very far.
Ebay is not the place to sell expensive items, or trust buyer to not abuse the system.

Sorry to hear about this, it's a large amount of money to lose, and if the buyer collected and inspected their item you'd think that all would be good.
It's a real shame that you didn't check the eBay guidance page for returns or find your way here first, we could then have explained that sellers can't decline a not as described return:
eBay appear to have done away with Live Chat, which was great because you could get a transcript of a conversation with them.
