I sold an iphone 13 charging flex cable to a buyer on 2nd January and was fully working when I sent it. Now over 6 weeks later I get an email from ebay stating The buyer reported an issue with the item. You can choose how you’d like to respond to their request. I have the option to either accept the return, decline the return or give a partial or full refund. EBAY Why are you even giving me and sellers this headache? Why are buyers not refused the opportunity to request it. I cannot stand grey areas in policies. Either there' s a 30 day return policy or there isn't. Its one or the other. If any request for a return can be made regardless of the return stated in the listing then ebay please tell what is the point of policies? And if there is a degree of flexibility in the 30 day policy then by how much? What is the limit to which ebay will forward return requests from buyers? 2 months? 6 months? 10 years?!!
Ebay's Money Back gurantee policy under the section titled Actions & time frames for not as described returns states that a buyer can 'start a return request' at the LATEST
30 calendar days after the estimated or actual delivery date or within the seller's stated returns window, whichever is longer.
If I select DECLINE REQUEST ebay then gives me this message

Consider accepting a return to give the buyer a better experience, although you can decline if you really want to.
Tell us why you want to decline the return request. We won't share this with the buyer.
The language smells of being blackmailed is the ebay alogrithm going to penalise me if I don't accept the return?. WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO ACCEPT THE RETURN, ALTHOUGH YOU CAN DECLINE IF YOU REALLY REALLY want to.
Give the Buyer a Better experience
I ALREADY GIVE BUYERS A GOOD EXPERIENCE!! For christ sake What do they want? a pint of my blood with every order?? The number of buyers emailing asking for ridiculous discounts of 30% of 40% has rocketed along with buyers purporting that they are buying their phone for their parent or partner and so they would like a huge discount.

I REFUND BUYERS IMMEDIATELY Within the return window IF THE item IS FAULTY SO THEY CAN PURHCASE ANOTHER one IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT HAVING TO WAIT FOR THE ITEM TO BE DELIVERED. Or I will immediately replace the phone at my own risk as I'm trusting them to send the faulty one back. This backfired once where the seller refused to send back a £500 phone despite me sending him another one!
My item was delivered tracked on 3rd January, so ebay WHY or why are you sending me a return request 47 days after delivery? Why is the buyer not given a THE RETURN WINDOW IS CLOSED message? Seriously ebay this is beyond unacceptable. Making a profit on ebay has already become so much more challenging since private sellers have zero selling fees now your giving buyers even more power.
Thankfully my exit strategy from ebay is almost complete!
