Hi, So I sold an item for collection worth £350 and they buyer collected it and paid via eBay payment system. The conversation on the eBay app was to meet up at the specific time and he sent his number through an image but after we meet up he send a message saying he’s unable to meet up. I forgot to scan the qr code upon collection or get the 6 digit and the buyer is claiming he never collected the item. What do I do now?

I am afraid that it is you who will give them the money, ebay will only follow the money back guarantee. They provide a system to prevent this sort of fraud and you did not follow it.
Unless this buyer has a history of similar frauds, then I doubt ebay will do anything, and likewise for legal action which would just be throwing more money away.
Most solicitors offer a free consultation period, so if you could do this no harm in taking advantage so long as free.

That is indeed a very clever scam, but one which getting the very important collection code would have prevented. They clearly took advantage of a new seller and had it all planned out from the start.
I can only suggest you contact ebay customer service with the facts and see if they can do anything. Probably not though if it is your word against the 'evidence'.
For that amount I would be looking at getting legal advice, but I fear you have lost your money and the item.

what can legal advice do? I feel like im likely to lose this case and i have no cameras recording so ive essentially lost tbe item and ebay will give him his money

Sorry that this has happened, but if the item has now been collected and you don't have the code to prove that it has been, then your buyer will get a full refund.
I can't see a way that you can fight this.

I’m afraid eBay has sided with him and that’s the end of it
