Dispute in my Favour as Seller, but buyer still got a refund from eBay - not from me!

A buyer, after a month decided to make a refund request for reasons which I disputed and the case went to eBay Customer Service, who decided in my favor, yet still reimbursed the buyer themselves.

So the buyer, in effect, got the item for Nothing! See final decision below.

I would add that I did offer a compromise, whereby the buyer returned the item to me and they paid the return postage. After inspection of the item, if OK, I would have given the buyer a refund. I never received a reply from the buyer!

I do not understand why eBay Customer Services didn't go along with this? - presumably the buyer rejected my offer and with eBay appeasement strategy the buyer has now has conned  eBay and worried me about ever listing anything on eBay again - especially with dodgy buyers who can get something for nothing!

Any one else experienced the same?

You do not say what the buyer claimed was wrong, but if he was outside the 30 day limit, then you could not lose.

 

Circumstances which ebay would not explain, must have made ebay pay for the refund. Buyer may have got something for nothing, but there must have been a very good reason for ebay to pay and it will be on file so buyer will not be able to get away with this again.

Exactly what 'dispute' did you raise with eBay?
