I am new to ebay and just placed an advert for some VW Whhel Centre Caps . shown as unbranded as the I assume that , at the cost I paid , they would not be genuine VW. Ebay have suspended this advert as infringing the counterfeit policy and yet there are hundreds of similar adverts i.e same item at selling prices that are not likely to be genuine VW - how are they allowed to run but my advert is suspended?

If your listing is removed or hidden by eBay, you may see similar listings still active on the site. This could be for a few reasons:
There may be differences between the other listings that aren't obvious
The other sellers may be a rights owner or authorised retailer of the item
A participant in the VeRO Program may have asked us to remove your listing but hasn't requested the other listing be taken down.
These types of removals are only done at the request of the VeRO participant, and aren't eBay's decision. Read more about the VeRO Program there's a link at the bottom of most eBay pages.
Your listing was reported to eBay, but the other listings weren't. Once spotted and reported like yours was, if they break as selling reg, they too will be removed. eBay rely on members too, to report. There's a report ( 3 vertical dots) button on every listing.

eBay don't allow fakes to be sold.
you cannot sell VW items if they are not VW.
