I want to ask a question of a seller but the contact box will not let me write anything in it. Why might that be?

Sometimes it depends what you want to add in the message that can get it blocked by ebay.

Clear your cookies and cache,and use a PC, possibly try a different browser like chrome or firefox, and make sure your device has all the latest software updates installed.
