Hi
I ordered a game on Saturday for a steal of a price. They put it on for about £45. I got an email notification today saying that *I* had asked for a refund when I hadn't. The seller didn't even run it by me. But they decided to cancel because they'd put the item on at the wrong price. And that it should have been £244.99! Are sellers allowed to do this? And Is it possible I can get eBay to challenge this?
Thanks

eBay cannot force the seller to send out, a paid for item. The seller had obviously forgotten that all important 3rd figure the 2 in front of the £45.
The seller selected Buyer requests to cancel as this does not bring any penalties to their account.
All you can do if you wish, is to contact Customer Services, explain you did not authorise the cancellation and you were very disappointed not to receive your item.
You will not see any action CS may take, but it's more than likely they will place a damaging defect on the seller's account, eBay d not like unhappy buyers.
If you want to, this is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays

Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.
I recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Okay. Thanks for the advice. Very disappointing though. Not sure I can be bothered with contacting CS though; not really worth it if it can't be escalated further.

Personally, I think the seller made a genuine mistake by not adding that £200 if that is still a reasonable / good price at £250.
Easily done especially when listing on the app or mobile browser.
No denying it's very disappointing for you, and I'm sure the seller only realised when item was sold , and they probably felt ill to see the mistake they had made. A polite message from them would not have gone amiss! 🤔

With certain exceptions [bricks and mortar auctions for example] a seller does not have to sell at an advertised price [if I recall].
In addition a contract may be "void for mistake".
You may be able to leave feedback [carefully]

Yeah, I'll probably just leave some feedback expressing my disappointment. Though I have to wait 7 days before I can do that. Thanks everyone.

Also, the day I bought it, the order was updated with a tracking number. Though I'm not sure they'd actually posted it.

Easiest way to report seller is using this https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers/report-issue-seller?id=4022&st=3&pos=1&q...
This should be reported, it is up to sellers to check their own listings.
Why do you have to wait 7 days to leave Feedback?

That's according to eBay, regarding the feedback. It won't let me click on Neutral or Negative. 😕
Also, it doesn't even appear as though the seller's re-listed the item at the 'correct' price.

I mean, I didn't for goodness sake...! 😠

Just noticed the seller had sold the item again, though I had no notification on my eBay app for any new listing, but they sold it for £700! Not 245.99. 😒

If this is a top rated seller then you cannot leave a negative or neutral feedback for 7 days. This to give that busy seller time to try and resolve the issue.
Once a full 7 days lapse, you'll be able to leave that neg or neutral feedback, but be factual ,mention no eBay involvement, or the feedback can be removed.

I would leave a negative for that with the following feedback: "Did not honour transaction" Keep it simple so there is no wriggle room for the seller to get it removed.

Should I put ‘Did not honour transaction. Said they set the wrong price a day or so after purchase, said it was meant to be £244.99, but then they sold it for £700! Avoid.’
