Account hacked - what I noticed

This is not so much a question, but an account of what I noticed before I recognized that something was not as it should be.

I do not know where some *bleep*... got my login details from, but I did notice a few strange things happening.

I was getting offers to items that I do not normally look at or put into my wish list. I had a games offer and I am not a gamer.

I normally use a PC and occasionally an Android device to look at Ebay. I do not normally have to put in my log in details, but suddenly I seemed to be asked by Ebay for log in details for every log in and sometimes even when I was in a "session" looking at something and simply opening up another tab. I thought it was a system error on Ebay's end.

I suddenly did not receive emails when I had bought an Ebay item and again I thought it was an Ebay error.

I only noticed that the account had a second "user" when I happened to be in the message section on the PC and there was an odd question about an item I bought..... I had not bought it. It was not even showing in my Purchase history.

The hacker was quite clever although some of these oddities could be prevented if Ebay changed their system slightly.

The hacker was clever enough to delete on a regular basis all the messages when he / she was active. That was why I did not get my expected messages anymore.

The hacker also hid his / her purchases - there were only 4 - so that I did not see them in my regular screen.

Ebay sent a notification about a new log in which I did not see as I probably was not on the PC when it happened - and that was also deleted.

What I think Ebay should introduce, is a list of ALL logins into an account at the time when the log in is live, i.e. if I am logged in with my PC and my android I should see 2 log ins and can also see the locations.

As I am in Leics and the hacker logged in in Evesham, Worcestershire, I should have seen the active log in as it must have happened at times I was or wanted to be active on Ebay. I know that people can use VPNs but that would not normally place the location into my exact location.

At the moment I am not sure where to find a history of "approved" log ins. Ebay is making the navigation in its submenus more difficult if any.

The hacker probably expected that odd behaviour often happens in Ebay and it would not raise suspicion.

Luckily the hacker seemed to have been active for only 4 days and was modest enough not to buy everything available. 2 sellers lost out on digital licenses.
