I put mine in the veg draw in the fridge, as with all my veggies except potatoes.
They never go black. How long do you keep them? Mine last a week or ten days fine.

What my mum does is boil or steam them for four minutes after which she puts them in cold water for another four minutes. When they've dried off, she puts them in the freezer.

Mine go in the salad drawer in the fridge. Never had them go black.

I put mine in the salad drawer and they stay good, mind you the rabbit eats so many that they don't hang around for long anyway.

I blanched and froze stacks of carrots last year that someone gave me, freshly pulled up an hour before, but I hardly use them as they're quite watery when cooked. Not like fresh at all.

i have had carrots in fridge for 1/2 weeks and never had them go black.

I never freeze veg as it's available fresh all through the year.

I just eat mine

They do go a bit soggy when they've been frozen, don't they. OK to chuck in a stew or cassarole though. Better than wasting them.

I don't usually, but when you're given a whole load at once...the same person brings us (me) carrier bags full of sweetcorn too. I love them. I just take the leaves off and freeze them as they are and they come out again exactly the same. I've frozen peas and beans out of the garden too, but they seem better if you don't blanche them.

I just don't like home frozen veg. I would make soup from a glut of anything & freeze that though.:)

It's funny how our tastes differ because I think that they taste better.

I buy them, peel them and put them in water and store in the fridge - they last ages and ages.

That seems a lot of effort. I mean, when you personally peel them and store them in water. Why not buy a tin of carrots, which are also peeled and stored in water inside the can, and last much longer than in the fridge?

Uh I don't understand that comment.
Tinned carrots do not taste like fresh carrots.
At any point that I wanted to cook the carrots I would have to wash and peel them anyway, so all it means is that I do that after buying them and they are ready to cook when I want to. Same amount of work involved, just do it after purchase as opposed to doing it when I want to cook them. They keep really well and no more wasted floppy black carrots - wasted and put it in the bin or on the compost heap.
