Working from home, tax allowance of around £300.00.

My Daughter, works from home she had a letter from HMRC to inform her, that she would receive a £300.00 tax allowance, added to the standard tax free allowance.

She and I thought, she would receive the amount in pay,but sadly no. I thought,we could put this amount

towards our electric bill.

As we,like many people are using more electric/gas than usual. To my calculations it's £5.76 per week, which would be useful, if paid through your salary, but no via your tax code.

Not sure,if this has been issued to everybody, who works from home?

But if you think, you should qualify, then why not claim it.

a 'tax allowance' means you can earn that much before you are charged tax,

it doesn't mean the government will give you that much money
