Warning anyone who uses GROUPON
We ordered two folding chairs from them, They were supposed to be delivered by Hermes, First excuse was that the package was too large (couriers use cars) and a couple of days later the website said there was an address query and the goods were being returned to sender, So their incompetent courier couldn't find us
I contacted Groupon (not easy) and have just had a reply from them ...........
According to your tracking number, the item has been returned to its original sender. Unfortunately we do not have the facility to arrange exchange or replacements at this time.
Given the circumstances that led to your request, I am happy to process a full refund in Groupon credits. Groupon credits are simple to use, and are valid for a whole year for you to use towards almost any purchase on Groupon. We often run our more popular deals more than once, so hopefully a similar deal to this one will come up soon.
So they are offering credits rather than a full refund for a company I will not use again because of their incompetency.
Think I'll be contacting my bank!

I might be wrong on this but if you paid by cash you should be refunded in cash. Compaines like that annoy me. I have never had dealings with Groupon and I doubt that I will now. I have heard horror stories about Hermes though.
Stand your ground and ask for a cash refund. Good luck.

Hello
2 friends of mine bought some stuff from Groupon:
Luckily I did not buy from them as they also use My Hermes
So stand your ground & ask for a full refund clearly stating that you do not intend to buy anything from them & will seek legal advice from the CAB ( could do so perhaps )
You could also speak to your bank to see if they can help & if you paid using a credit card
Hope this helps somehow

I have given them 7 days to issue a full refund or we will do a chargeback through the bank.
I have checked their Terms and Conditions and there is no mention of credits. Nothing to say what happens if the goods don't arrive, only if they are faulty or damaged. In that instance they offer a refund within 14 days.

Learning, I had a similar-ish issue, not with Groupon but with Wowcher. It tooks 8 weeks to sort out, but I eventually got a cash refund 🙂
This isn't a done deal, and you will need to provide evidence, including details of all emails, phone records etc, and then Visa/Mastercard *might* uphold it.
You may have to repeat your points more than once - I know once you've escalated to customer support, Wowcher will only deal with you by email - as they may not grasp exactly what's happened. It's key to remain totally polite throughout - their CS rep who eventiually authorised by claim said that she thought I was the most polite complainant they had ever had - because that's helpful to getting them onside and encourages them to do what you want more swiftly: you want to seem as though you are being totally reasonable, because then, it follows on that what you are suggesting is reasonable (NB I am not for a minute suggesting you have - or would be - ranty or rude, no matter how well deserved!)
I had all sorts of rubbish with them - saying they'd respond within x days and then only getting back to me when chased (4 times) but my final email, mentioning TS and AF, and also saying that, because of the money involved (in my case, £109) I would have no choice to pursue them and the trader through the Small Claims Court because, as a business, no doubt it was insignificant to them, but it represented a considerable investment from my salary - unless I heard back from them within 72 hours that they were refunding in full.
Every time I wrote, I added my further complaints about their poor customer service (which was totally deficient every time except for the last time - they basically failed to meet the deadlines they had set) and reiterated that, whilst I appreciated the offer of a voucher credit, that wasn't appropriate in the circumstances.
Actually, I was super-relieved - because the very helpful girl at my CC company had advised me that using the Visa scheme still might not work, as Wowcher where the ones with whom I had a contract, and not the supplier: I don't know what the magiv bullet was, but I suspect, it was the combination of TS, AF and the SCC - up until that final email, they were adamant that I was not getting any cash...
Good luck - and persevere, too: it's your money, and they shouldn't make you feel like they are doing you a favour by giving you a "goodwill" refund of credit to spend on their site - as if you'd ever use them again after this experience!
(Sorry for the long post - literally just got this resolved this week...)

Also, as a side note, from reading posts on here, I deliberately put it on my card, for extra protection - but it seems when using PP or any of these voucher sites, and not contracting with a merchant directly, you are, in essence, voiding your protection: there is some hope if your bank is amenable (chargebacks) or you have plenty of evidence (Visa/Mastercard schemes) you might get lucky, but otherwise, you just have to persevere.
If you go onto Which or Moneysaving Expert, you can see the ins and outs of the various schemes, and the issues with intermediaries: I'm not posting links as I've been slapped into the middle of next week too recently to dare to even try!
GOOD LUCK!

Well good news for a change.
We have had the full amount refunded to our card, with an apology.
Wonders never cease!
