I never seem to have the time to indulge myself... I though retirement would mean loads of time for ME.   now am caring for blind and handicapped husband and time is slipping away. Its driving me mad !

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I can honestly say I have never ever been bored. I have two quilts on the go at the moment as well as loads of other smaller projects.

Did kitten make the Christmas Creation I saw the other night ?

Hello there!  I wondered why my ears were burning.  If you mean the very Speshul Christmas hat, yes that was one of my "creations".  Anything that makes you wonder what the heck it is, then you can be sure it's one of my unique "creations" :^O  To see all my tat beautiful pieces then you will have to bid on my very speshul calendar I'm putting together for November's mdcc. The calendar will of course be up to my usual standard - made up as I go along :^O

Bob went blind 5 years ago very suddenly from vascullitis and I nursed him for about 2.5 years then found  as he was much improved and more independent I was bored at night. I had lost my 2 outlets for my cards and didn`t know what to do so I could be in the same room. Got my computer and started selling on eBay and have never had a moment to myself since. keep getting boxes of stuff out of the sheds and clean and polish ready for listing.

I must say I still look on crafting time  as me being selfish as its "me" time. but at least I can order coal and know I can pay for it.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

All those grandchildren?:O  I thought four were enough (although if my son was to have a son I'd be so chuffed)

You must start Christmas shopping in January!  All four of mine have birthdays within 6 weeks with Christmas in the middle though, which is bad enough!

It's not selfish at all.  You are doing something you enjoy.  So sorry that this happened to your OH it must have been really hard for both of you.

Got em all ages from 32 years  down to 12 months and all sizes in between.

Trouble is as you get older I find I cannot work by artificial light to sew or do anything fiddly like jewellery making

Get yourself a daylight lamp. I couldn't work without mine. One of the best things I ever bought. I dare not post a link but google optima low vision & you will find them. They are cheaper from them than the craft places.

I`ve lost track. CG were the black sparkly skirts for your granddaughters, they were lovely.

I  used to make for my girls and their friends, remember the tiered skirts with lace at the bottom ?

My DiL won`t put her daughter in anything which doesn`t have NEXT written in it....don`t think my offerings would be appreciated !!

My daughter is a proffessional sewer and alters wedding dresses amongst other things,,.........you have to be brave for that

I never stop  shopping cos theres all the birthdays every month also plus my 5 and their OHs

Got the lamp, about £100 if I remembe rcorrectly, Also got one with a magnifyer. maybe I`m just getting lazy in my old age.

I often wonder what to do with all the stuff ....kids don`t want homemade (unless I own a mint) and can`t sell on here cos don`t want to have to be a business cos if Bobs ill will have to stop and can`t fullfill their requirements.

Do you live in a town? There are often shops that will take well made craft items.:-)

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Yes I made those skirts.  They were very simple but did actually look better in real life.

My three year old granddaughter had a new cardigan on the other day.  At least it was a normal shape as opposed to some she turns up in.  I don't know what name it was (they're usually Next or Gap or something) but this had one sleeve burnt orange, one sleeve black, one front navy blue and one front dark green.  I think the back was all dark green.  I like little girls in pastel colours or bright colours, not black and dark green.:-(
