Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

That tiffin looks nice apart from raisens, I will have to make one at a later date 🙂

I wont be getting my weekend break or seeing you this weekend CK 😞 the car is knack***d way beyond hubbies knowledge, he could have changed valves but not reground cylendar head. and its not worth the amount repairs would cost, Its got a great body, clean but not worth that much.

Oh well as one door closes another one opens,

There must be something better waiting for me 🙂

I'm Sorry ..... :-x

I'm just bad at accepting things from people, I'm the same when people request to buy something from me  ......... I'd rather give than receive 😄

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

I must have missed gems post 😐
Sorry to hear you won't be getting your weekend away ............. & that your cars "broke" 😞

I think were having MIL to stay for the weekend :-x  it will be her last weekend before she hopefully goes into a care home  😞 bless her, but its her choice, she's just desperate for company & it will probably do her the world of good as her dementia is getting worse & she is so aware of the fact.
its such a shame we live  nearly 80 miles away from her 😞

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

Gives CK a (((((huuuuuge hug))))). Just because lol! Shame about your MIL CK - could she not move into a home near you? It's not like she'll know anyone where she goes is it, or will she?

How is that naughty son of yours recovering? :-x

Merlin, I bought choc chips today, I'm going to make the cookies tomorrow.... either that or I may make the apple cake if I have enough apples - it's definitely going to be one of them but the cookies sound easier lol!

*mutters something about (not) sewing a dress as an excuse for coming in here again*

*wonders how long it will take for everyone to realise I have set up and got myself comfy in here and will not be leaving anyway.....*

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

Hugs I can accept graciously 😄

No Choccy she wants to stay over that area, she has another Son who live close by & visits her daily,  him & SIL have found a lovely place, new build & only been open 4 months, they say its lovely & believe me they would be fussy where she goes, if they say its nice you can guarantee it will be.
She is going for  4 weeks respite to see how things go but if all goes well & she is happy there, she will stay :-x
............. she went to look around it on Tuesday & even told them which room she wants :^O

Apparently it is divided into 2 with half dementia patients & half residential care ........ as she still has "good days" she will be in the residential part to start with.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

Sorry I haven't replied as I've been at work.

We love Tiffin here - happy to post the recipe if anyone wants it.

Think we'll have to hire a van with all the stuff we have to take to my daughter's 😉

CK - sorry about MIL. My FIL is going the same way, but there is no-one but OH and I. He has good and bad days too, and not too bad at the mo, but it's a slippery slope.
Hope your MIL settles in quickly, and her illness progresses slowly.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

I hope she does too, time will tell, she decided a few weeks ago that she though it would be for the best, its the loneliness/forgetfulness that gets to her 😞
So Bil/Sil have had some meeting with SS to see what will best suit her needs & they have looked around quite a few place's ........... he said that some were quite 😮 & he wouldn't leave a dog there!
Anyway they didn't mention it anymore to her untill they found one suitable as she would have been worrying about it.
When they told her they were taking her to look round one ... she panicked ... cried ... wasn't sure if that was what she wanted, but that was just the reaction they expected 😞
Anyway she gets there, looks around & says ......... can I stay now ...... I really don't want to go home :-D:-x

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

morning ladies:-D

my mum visits quite a few parishners, a few of them almost 100 years old, but one lady in her 70s just faced this CK
she wasnt so keen, but has only 1 nephew, and really didnt have a choice, she has been there about 2 months now
she says she doesnt know how they managed without her now:^O she has company if she wants it, she can have peace & quiet, but she loves to "mother" some of the less abled
next year she will be matron:^O

hope its a positive experience for your MIL too
loneliness is awful, coupled with the dementia, makes it so much worse
but its like a wee community, and will put your mind at rest that she is being looked after

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

Oh well that's different if she's got other family nearby CK! Homes can vary dramatically, can't they - it's scary what some of them are like 😐 It's nice that she wants to go rather than having no other option.... and it's nice your mum's lady likes it in her place too Merlin 🙂

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

my mum has a gaggle of old ladies
some of them make me laugh, but some of them really make me take stock sometimes

hettie, recently fell, broke her hip
so much fight in her, she is now recovering pretty well
but she was frustrated at being in the hospital, with all QUOTE " those old ones":|

she is 100 in 3 months time!:^O

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD

😮 Merlin!!

The difference in old people is amazing too - yesterday I saw a guy in his 70's, deaf as a post, failing vision etc etc. In the afternoon I saw a 94 yr old lady whose vision was BETTER than '20-20' 😮 She could have passed for 20 yrs younger easily!

Oooh Learning I'm sorry, I forgot to say another gorgeous piccy! I bet you are so excited about tomorrow :-x

THE APPLE CAKE IS IN THE OVEN!!!!! So I reckon 1 of 2 things will happen.... it will either be a disaster and I will fall into depression about my terrible cooking skills or... it will be lovely and I'll be so chuffed I'll do the cookies too.... :^O
