Morning Sewing Ladies
Guess I must be lucky my little cheapie machine happily sews t-shirt material - no special needle or anything. Mind you I don't push the pedal down to hard to I'm not speeding along or anything.
Having said that I'm not one for rules when sewing - my teacher @ school always despaired of me!
Looking forward to my S&B session next week as there's a lady there thats going to teach me some proper pattern making and then I can start making myself some new skirts for summer :)

You should really use a ballpoint needle for sewing t shirting and other stretchy fabrics - it has a rounded point that goes between the fabric loops rather than splitting a loop as a sharps needle does....which can mess up your tension and break your thread. One of those 'learnt the hard way' things. Most needle assortments have a ballpoint one nowadays.

My nan was a dressmaker (not by profession but necessity as most mums were in our grandparent's day :-)) and made most of my dresses when I was little. She passed that on to me but it's all in my head iykwim and I've never used a pattern or anything lol.
I will teach Hannah the way I was taught but I think it would be useful to have some books to refer to as well :-)

i love this threadand like you need books to help me understand things, i know you get instructions etcfor the machine but it doesnt tell you all of it 🙂

Maggie that would be great, id be up for that lol, i mean i looked for classes round here could'nt find one!, ill go down to the local shop that sells wool and stuff to see if she knows anyone :)
