THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Have just tried that and it seems OK.

Tomorrow I will ask a lady over the road who sews and used to be a machinist. Hoping she can look at it and see what's wrong.
Maybe I fidn't thread the bobbin right, but I followed the instructions.

THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

It is Sindy - wanted to be sewing tonight. Could have hand sewn 2 rag dolls in the time I've wasted 😮

If I can't get it sorted, I'll do something with cotton to see if that works. Maybe a stretch material was not the best thing to start with 😉

Thanks for all your help everyone. Will keep you posted.

When you inspect the stitches underneath the top thread is showing through then the lower tension is too tight. If its the other way round with the lower thread pulled up to the top then its too loose.

Sometimes a bit of fluff in the spool holder is the problem. Try taking the spool out and brush out with a soft brush.

It sews OK for about 3 inches, then some looser stitches underneath, then OK again.

Can you try it with some cotton? Didn't realise you were using stretchy stuff.

Was using the stretchy stuff Maggie, which may be the problem.

You can still make monkeys, but may need a ball point needle.

Good luck with getting it sorted.

I always used calico for rag dolls.

Just been looking at Ball Point Needles, but not sure of the size I'd need.

See if your machinist friend can give you some advice first. If the machine doesn't like stretch fabrics the needle wont make a difference. She may be able to lend you a BP needle to try.

I have a pretty good sewing machine but doubt it would sew t
T shirt material happily.

Mmmmmmmmm - you may have a point Maggie.

Think I'll hand sew the doll and try something else on the machine.

Waiting for some fabric to arrive ;)
