We got rain and strong winds. Typical weather for a funeral. Thankfully, it's a cremation so we don't all have to stand for I don't know how long in the horrible weather. I'll be back much later.
Can't wait for Saturday to see Steph, Graham and Grace. They'll have fun if Grace still doesn't want to wear her dress with or without wellies.
19-09-2013 2:49 PM
hope its not too wet Chris
just spit/spotting here atm
19-09-2013 2:55 PM
I so hope its dry on Saturday, for you of course books but also for Miss S doing her sponsored walk as would hate her to be hiking for 12 miles soaked to the skin.
19-09-2013 6:08 PM
Hope that Miss S does well with her walk on Saturday Stan and that the weather is dry for you as well.
We've not been back from the funeral long. It was a lovely service both in church and at the crematorium. We went back to a pub after the funeral. Steph had put Grace into nursery for the day and Graham went to pick her up on the way to the pub. Grace came up to me and asked me was I alright. I told her that I was fine. Steph and Graham are only away for a week on their honeymoon. I'll leave it for a few days after she gets back to tell her my problems as she has enough on at the moment. They had a rehearsal for the wedding last night and Grace was all over the church which is typical of a two year old. It should be fun watching her on Saturday.

Love the makes Cookie. They'll go like hot cakes.
On Sunday, I'll post some photos of the wedding so everyone will see what Grace decided that she would wear. Can't wait to see what she gets up to. Grace is going away for a few days next week with her gran. Her gran will be worn out after a couple hours so I shudder to think how she'll feel at the end of next week.

Hope Saturday goes well for everyone and that the weather is kind.
Had a bad day yesterday. They sent the student nurse in to help me wash this morning. Since the thrush is really really really bad, and I am struggling to sit up, I asked for help with cleaning up down below. Student took one look and went off to fetch a qualified nurse. Nurse took one look and went and fetched sister. Sister said that this needed treating, and she'd contact tissue viability. Then the whole team of doctors chose that moment to descend on me, 7 of them (including 3 consultants). They apologised and said they'd come back later, but sister said "You really need to see this". So another 7 of them all peering at my private bits - what joy.
Exclamations all round, "had no idea it was as bad as this" . That was the straw that broke the camels back, so they got it - the whole lot of them. I pointed out that I have been complaining about the thrush since the start of May, that I have asked repeatedly for it to be treated effectively, and they have all dismissed it as a minor irritation, and done nothing whatsoever. When I asked for a new tube of canesten cream, I had to buy it myself from the internet. Pointed out that they need to take a much more holistic approach, and to look beyond just the one narrow area. I told them that they need to consider the side effects of the medication that they prescribe and actually consider the consequences. They also got told that they need to listen to patients.
At this point, with me in floods of tears, the porters arrived to take me for some x-rays. Talk about bedlam. They tried to wheel me off in my bed, but then realised that I am connected to oxygen, and of course no-one could find a portable oxygen cylinder - typical hospital organisation.
So, the whole troop of doctors decided that they were all coming to x-ray with me, so that they can see the images as they are taken - they put dye into "the hole" so they could see the size and shape of it.
Back from x-ray, and guess what, no nurse on duty who knew how to do the dressing with the pump. I reminded them that this is what happens when they don't consider the consequences - just order an x-ray, but don't think about the fact that the dressing will need to be re-done afterwards!
Eventually the registrar did the dressing, and they finally all left me in peace, but still un-washed. By this time I no longer had the energy to care.
And would you beleive that I am still no nearer an effective treatment for the thrush.
Blood pressure was better this morning, so was allowed to have a shower. Doctors haven't been in at all today.

Honestly Stroppy, if it was me I think that my blood pressure would be through the roof. (((((Stroppy))))).

Words fail me.

nugger Stroppy
a total pita
lets hope they will learn to listen properly
i bet that student nurse got freaked out by the hassle
i suppose that your medication aggravates the thrush too

Morning all
(((((( stroppy ))))))
Cold but at least dry here this morning , think it's time for warmer footwear though as my tootsies feel like ice-pops.

Towery - yes , the industrial stregnth meds is the major cause of the thrush. Every time the meds finish and you think that you are about to clear it up, they start the meds again.
Another fairly major problem caused by the meds is the hypocalcaemia - my body can't absorb calcium or magnesium from food, or from food supplements, the only way my body will absorb calcium and magnesium is by regular drips.
As for listening - I doubt it sadly. Last night I told the nurses that my calcium levels were very low, and I was starting to get the first very mild muscle spasms. Asked them to do a blood test, and to sort out the calcium infusion as a matter of urgency, before the muscle spasms really developed. All I got was a lecture that they only do blood tests when ordered by a doctor, that they aren't qualified to take blood from my I.V. line, and that if I was getting muscle spasms they would speak to the doctor in the morning. So I was really naughty, I bleeped the A & E consultant on duty. He sorted me out very quickly (knows me very well), and has put big red notices on the outside of my notes, on my drugs chart, and on my obs chart.
The registrar brought me a lovely croissant for breakfast this morning - straight out of the oven, all warm and crisp - just the way that I like them.

Afternoon all. Hope that everyone is as well as can be expected. Hugs to those that need them and anyone who is a little under the weather feels at least a bit better soon.
I've been doing a few little jobs like plucking eyebrows and putting nail varnish on ready for tomorrow. Just looking forward to tomorrow.

oooh I feel like we are all going to this wedding with you Chris! I can't wait for tomorrow either hahahahaa,.....I'm betting on Grace taking one look at her mummy in her new dress and she'll want to do the same, mind you, the wellies stay!!!
Ah, Stroppy, I'm so sorry it's all going t**s up for you lately, I'm thinking of you and if I could I'd bring you your lunch every day, whatever you wanted xx
I've just sorted the new curtains out for our newly decorated bedroom, ready for hanging, OH is fast asleep so I'll have to wait until he wakes up! hooves are not allowed up a ladder......carpet looks lovely and he's done such a good job of the wallpaper. We'll be in there to sleep tomorrow night I think. I'll miss the patio doors! we've been sleeping in the 3rd bedroom which we use as a breakfast room, and it was lovely to lie in bed and watch the birds having their breakfast. Window, is too small in the bedroom, I wish we could of had it made bigger.
