Is there not a course closer? You'd think the NHS could transfer her rather than chuck money at child care.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Morning all.  Just taken me 13 minutes this morning to get on to the Internet.  I have emailed Sky about the problem as I have neither the time nor the patience with them and their lies.  Of course it's bound to be my fault and not theirs.

CK, I can see where you are coming from over Imogen's mum.  I'd be really annoyed if it were me.

I think with quite a lot of people with degrees that common sense is something alien to them.

Must go but I'll be back later.

Hugs to all that need them.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Morning all.

Oh CK I don't know what to say, am sure things seem to be happening pretty fast at yours with the decision to go back to Uni brought forward and flat hunting already sorted, Son must be gutted as whatever happens he will either be apart from one or both of them for quite a while and by the sounds of it will also be broke for most of it.

Even now a lot of our stuff comes second hand and I'm not ashamed to say so as spare cash isn't always free flowing.

Hope all goes well with your appointment Maggie and you finally get some solution to your pain Smiley Happy

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Nothing definitive from the hossy. Could be the physio has agrivated the tendons....or not. Could be arthritis....or not. I have to have the worse foot Xrayed tomorrow. Doctor at the hossy has a 10 week wait for appointments! They will 'try' & see me re Xray in three weeks but not to hold my breath. Basically too many patients not enough doctors!

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Afternoon all.  Hope that you managed to get a cleaner for your FIL Learning.

Arthritis is downright painful says she speaking from exprience and you have my sympathies Maggie.

Had to have my mum at the walk in centre this afternoon as she fell in the greenhouse and broke two panes of glass.  Luckily, she didn't have any glass in the two grazes on her back.  They've cleaned the grazes up and said to go back if there are any problems.  I feel like I have lived at the walk in centre over the past couple of weeks.  Mum says her back feels better now.  I think her pride hurts though and the glass can be replaced.

Grumpy, your degree is different. You went to uni when you had to be really clever to get in. Now everyone is expected to go

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

It could have been worse for my mum though.  I'd been out for lunch with a couple of friends.  It could have happened whilst I was out.  I had got back about five minutes before it happened.

My Goddaughter's sister went to uni and she's 26 now.  She's not too bad on the common sense front though I must admit.  My mum might have different views on the subject though.  Mum was an analyst at a factory where some of the bosses had degrees and only a handful had common sense to match their degrees.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I graduated in 1985, so the dark ages really! I did English and Drama at the University of Kent. Only got a 2:2 but when my results were put up first, before all my friends, they all started celebrating their results because they reckoned if I had passed they all would! I actually had some really bad marks but I did a 'three day' paper on the role of women in 19th century English Literature and a good one on Russian Lit. They were both marked as firsts that dragged my overall marks up! I also got the highest 2:1 in Radio Drama. That means my other papers must have been about sub-O level! Well, you can't write much new about Shakespeare and I loathe Wordsworth.

Re: THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

This is Rainy's husband popping on with an update, so I hope I get this right.  Ironically, after all that has happened since, the chemo itself went very well and she was good the first day at home. Ever since then it has been the usual daily round of doctors and hospital consultants, she is is in a lot of neuropathic pain and the medics have been trying to bring it under control without interfering with the daily injections she needs to make the stem cells, which are the whole point of the chemo and everything else.

She apologises for being rude in taking so long to get back to you all but all she does otherwise is sleep and cannot keep any food down either.  Hoping she is ok for Monday (stem cell collection blood test).  She sends her love to you all and her thanks for all your good wishes, emails, messages and cards.  All she wants is her boy to come home, and she's never asked for that before now. xx.
