THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Morning

Happy belated birthday Stroppy.

Good to see Twishy is getting back to normal.

Well we seem to be taking one step forward and two steps back.
For Attendance Allowance, I need to prove a need for 6 months, or have medical staff complete a DS 1500 form.
Doctors at the hospital cannot agree if the lung cancer is classed as terminal, so unlikely to sign the form.
That leaves the Dementia.

He was assessed about 2 years ago and they were unable to give a diagnosis as he was borderline. Recent events have tipped him well over the edge and I spent time with a Doctor in the hospital talking to FIL in what I believed was as assessment to confirm the Dementia. This was written on his notes, but nothing was mentioned in his discharge letter. The letter to his GP says that he was assessed for Dementia but had no needs!

They made the referral to Social Services, but say he had no needs?
Carers have been upped from 3 to 4 x per day but he has no needs?
He doesn't know what day it is, but he has no needs?

So I am stuck as far as claiming Attendance Allowance, and Council Tax rebate until somebody somewhere will put something in writing.

Community Alarm people wanted to fit the alarm today so arrangement was made to call me 30 mins before they arrived so that I could be there. They rang FIL, who didn't understand, so just turned up at 9am and fitted it!

Communication is a wonderful thing!

Afternoon all.

Like the name Eleanor so it's Danielle Eleanor.  Really nice.

Sorry that you're having so many problems Learning.  I only wish people would communicate properly.  Better still, their reading skills should be tested thouroughly before getting these jobs or is that too much to expect.  (((((Learning)))))

Same as the communication at our hospital. The ortho guy referred me for an ultrasound & i asked how i made my next appointment. He said ultrasound guy will tell me. Had the ultrasound on 28th July & the scanning chappie said he'd send the results to the ortho doctor & that they would send me an appointment in a few days. When I hadn't recieved my appointment after 2 weeks I decided to phone the fracture clinic to see what was happening only to be told that I hadn't been allocated an appointment as I hadn't phoned to make one.
I told the receptionist what I'd been told & she said 'they're always getting it wrong, someone ought to tell them', doesn't help me, no apology & now wasted 2 weeks waiting. Bet it clashes with my holiday arrangements now.

THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

I'm losing the will to live here.

I was at a meeting with the City Council this afternoon. We were discussing the viability of various paving materials for a pretty big project to re-vamp a large area of the pedestrian precinct in the City Centre. After some heated discussion, we moved on to discussing the timescale for this project. It was proposed to start it in January / February, but there is already an existing plan to dig up and renew a lot of the gas and sewer pipes in this area in April.

I asked why they were proposing spending a considerable sum laying new paving, just to have it dug up a few weeks later, and asked why the projcet was not being delayed until after all the pipework is done. Also when the utilities dig up the roads and pavements, they have to pay a certain amount towards "permanant re-instatement". I suggested that this sum could be used to reduce the cost of the project and that this would free up funds for another project.

I know that "common sense" is a very rare commodity now, but this is utter madness and a total waste of money!

so they really do lay paving and then think there isn't anything wrong with digging it up again a few weeks later??????

I'm gobsmacked!!!!! they don't deserve our council tax, they really don't........

I've been doing the garden.....again....SIL is coming tomorrow with her OH and her granddaughter who is 5, she's our great niece!!! yikes just call me a dinosaur. I must admit, the garden is looking fab, which is more than can be said for me...I'm knackered.

Glad your sorted Gina Smiley Happy

I must have missed Danielle's second name announcement Smiley Embarassed  ..... Eleanor sounds lovely & they really go well together ❤️
Are they home yet Stan?

I'm afraid I'm sat here biting my lip again & am going to have a moan ....... you must be fed up of me by now Smiley LOL
Never mind its not going to be for much longer Smiley Sad   Madam has got the flat she went to see & picks the keys up on Monday, I'm really pleased for her as it sounds ideal although expensive ish .......It is either a new build or refurb I'm not sure which, but everything is new & it sounds to be in a in a secure complex so why am I biting my lip .......... because she has spent the whole of this evening online shopping to kit the flat out .. its unfurnished apart from kitchen electicals & she's buying mainly all from Next .... all matching & NON of it cheap ...... you can guess its not going to be her account she pays for it all from  Smiley Mad

On a happier note she's leaving Imogen here while she goes backwards & fowards sort it out ........ & possibly even during her first 6mths back at Uni heart

Ooh!  That sounds expensive ck!!!!  When people of our age first set up home, most of our stuff was given by relations, bought second hand or borrowed.  The only new thing we had in our flat was a  bed.  The flat belonged to his parents and there was a bed-sitting room and a kitchen, both on different levels and the toilet was down a flight of stairs, through a shop and out the back.  Lovely in the middle of the night when I was 8 months pregnant!

I don't know whether to say good news on the Imogen staying front or not now.  It's great for you but I wonder if Imogen will miss her mum and her mum will certainly miss her.  Will you (and her dad of course) be able to cope full time with a young baby?  She'll be starting to crawl soon and getting into mischief. Smiley Wink

THE FHG SEWING THREAD :-D

Thing is CG, they now get Child tax credits & Dad get working tax credits (paid into her account!!) so things arn't quiet as tight, plus they have been living almost rent free for ages ....... she says she had enough scrimping living in student digs & now she has this flat she going to make it nice , ..... all well & good if you can afford it & to give them there dues they have saved but I have visions of Son living here scrimping still & her living beyond her means at his expense ........... & he'll let her as she'll say in a pathetic voice "but Imogen needs somewhere nice"
Imogen staying here is absoloutley no problem to me, Son would prefer her to stay obviously & he does most of her looking after anyway when he's here.  Mum obviously will find it extremely hard to leave her & would like to take her with her, if she took her with her apparently Uni will pay 92% of her childcare but her choice is either leave her for long periods with strangers in childcare but keep her with her or leave her with her Dad & family & only see her at weekends, right now she has her practical head on but who knows how she will feel when it actually comes to leaving her ...... I know I couldn't do it Smiley Indifferent

It seems the rush for her sudden need to return next month is down to the course she hoped to return to next year has been cancelled.

Blimey, she's got it made if uni are willing to pay the majority of her childcare fees. Bet she doesn't have to pay it back when she's earning like others do with thier student loans, it seems wrong that uni are paying for her childcare especially as it's unlikely that she'll use her degree, everyone I know who went to uni now does a job that has no connection with what they were studying. I notice that all the young uni lot from work come armed with thier degrees but not a lot of common sense.

Talking of common sense, I've just done something not very clever. I just fell out of bed, haven't done that since I was a kid! Feeling a few bruises coming up already 🙂 what a twit!

Ouch Gina ...... hope your foots ok Smiley Surprised

Yes. she has got it made, she knows she's fallen on her feet & Son is a soft touch Smiley Mad
She will follow her nursing dream though Gina, I'm pretty sure about that ..... how soon I'm not sure because I know she also wants another baby Smiley Surprised (18mths ago she said she would NEVER have any!!)

It annoys me how much money she gets from Uni, I know she gets quiet a lot monthly maternity pay + when she goes back she gets a monthly bursary & its all NHS funded Smiley Mad
Thing is thats why she MUST go back because if she hasn't completed her course by a certain date ........ every penny has to be paid back Smiley Wink
The one that has been cancelled that she originally planned to start back on has really caught her on the hop, if she had said No to going back next month it would cost here thousands Smiley Happy
