It's a year ago Thursday she had her op to have a new cruciate ligament in her knee. She has to go to the vet's tomorrow, I think she's done the other one!!:_|
Looks like we'll both be on crutches at the same time.:O

Oh good, I'm pleased he's ok. I asked hubby (he took Lottie on Wed.) if she would have to stay in overnight again, and hubby said the vet didn't say, but looks as though she will, like she did last time. Don't say if you'd rather not but how much is this op. in your neck of the woods? (what neck of the woods?) I think ours was about £600 last time, in East Anglia.:-D
Get well soon hairy doggy!:-x

£1700 for the op CG, extra for tablets. Both ops involved him having a v shape cut out of his bone as well as cruciate work so a bit different to your girl by the sound of it. Well I hope it's different if yours is £600! 😮 I live in Devon. Not insured any more either. We were first time round but the premiums got extortionate! It was nearly £70 per month each dog when we decided to cancel it. 😞 Still, gotta be done hasn't it? :-x Good luck to Lottie.

Oooh! I hope they don't find they need to do that when they see the Xray! As far as I understand it, there are two cruceate ligaments that cross each other between the shin bone and the thigh bone, at the knee. If one of them has snapped each end disappears like a piece of elastic. A strip of muscle is fashioned from that in the leg and left attached at one end and passed through the gap at the knee and sewn down at the other end. That has to grow and fuse onto the muscle before they can exercise.
We've never had dog insurance and in 45 years of having dogs, this is the first two ops we've had to pay for so we're in pocket by a long way.;-)

Yes that's what I understood the problem was too CG. He had that done as well as this other procedure.
Here he is on our return home. :-x Bless him!

Awww...poor wee man 😞
I hope his recovery goes well roofie :-x

Aw, don't they look sad when they've had anything done. I suppose they just wonder what has happened. At least when we have an op we might not remember it but we understand it. With animals it's just WHAM!!! and they end up with something poorly and don't even know where it's come from!! At least they don't spend the few days beforehand worrying.
Hope he recovers well roofie, we'll have to compare progress. 😄

Thanks Merc. Yes CG he certainly looks sad, and he's making the weirdest noises too. Like whimpering but it's not his normal 'voice' if you know what I mean. 😞 I've taken the lampshade off while I'm with him so he's a lot more comfortable now.
Yes, let's give updates on their progress. 🙂 He's eaten a little chicken I cooked for them but he hasn't had a drink all day so I'll have to do something about that soon. Don't want him getting dehydrated.
Lots and lots of pampering CB. :^O

That reminds me, Lottie didn't use her lampshade at all last time, which certainly made things more comfortable. She never once attempted to touch her stitches. I hope, for her sake she's the same again.

Oh that's good. My one's a real licker I'm afraid, quite common in westies I believe. He has pink fur on his front paws as he licks them all the time in his bed. 😄
Awww look at that pic. She's lovely. 😄

They do vary a bit, in how they respond to stitches etc, but hopefully the lampshade wont be needed. Very disorientating to be accustomed to getting through a certain size of opening only to find your lampshade now demands a wider opening to get through. I found it disorientated the cat as well, who seemed to think the dog had joined some nunnery and was a bit disturbed by it all.
Nice sig roofie.

I think you're right Borzoi......
Good luck Lottie, fingers crossed here 🙂
hugs and pats for all furries :-x

Aw, thank you borzoi and twishy!:-D Yes, she's just gone in, well, hubby's just got back. They're going to ring when she's had the xray to say whether she needs that op or something different, and if it's the op they'll do it and ring later to say how it went. She has to stay overnight and they'll ring tomorrow when we can go for her.:|

Good luck Lottie. :-x My little fella's done nothing since he's been home. He's just been lying in his bed. 😞 Didn't want to eat or drink so I had to coax him but he finally had something. He's a bit more back to his normal self today though so I'm not worried. 🙂

Good to hear he's brightening up. What's his name by the way? can't keep calling him 'hairy dog'. If Lottie went off her food it would be real cause for concern!!!!:O
08-04-2013 9:29 AM
Yes,please tell us his name.....
I put ''hugs and pats for Roofie'' then realised that was you not him ...
So changed it to ''hugs and pats for Roofie's furry''........:|
The final post came after I had choked on me tea ...:^O

So, we've had the phone call, it is the cruciate ligament so she'll be in the middle of it now.
I was still getting dressed this morning and she came 'running' in as quick as she could, wagging her tail. I was pleased because I thought I was going to miss her departure. Then hubby appeared, jangling the lead and calling her name and whistling. She was sitting with her head bowed, shaking. She knew where she was going. He had to pick her up and carry her out.:-(

Oh poor Lottie. :-x That sixth sense they have never fails to amaze me. Keep us updated CG.
