Deno's Diary Part 3, A new Chapter

Deno (proper name De Novo) was adopted by FHG posters in 2005 when one of them, Shebalator, rescued him from slaughter.

Then - 700lbs underweight with a broken jaw and multiple other ills.




2008 - still struggling with sarcoids but finally fit enough to have a light rider up for the first time so he could
join his mates on a jaunt round the local lanes



2009 - due to sheb’s declining health, a new home was sought for Deno.
A very brave ebayer named upthecreekyetagain ( very apt name I think you will agree) agreed to take him on.
So, now Deno lives in Surrey with the Creeky family, plus 3 lovely mares. He has 5 acres of grass and orchards to roam in and is very happy.



His sarcoids still remain a problem, but a new vet is investigating them further to decide on the best course of palliative care.

Deno is reliant on fundraising and donations for his food, medicines and all the things that make his world that bit nicer.

This replaces his previous diary thread that had become too cumbersome to load.
And to mark the start of the next chapter of his life.

Seriously, it worries me that it is the same wonderful people fundraising, but realistically, it's up to each and every one who / if they chose to support a cause. Hope Sara Haworth doesn't mind me speaking out but unlike some larger organisations, think us smaller ones are grateful for whatever and more than happy to share with our friends :-x

Liz knows that Chaldon is our main focus for 2013 and we will never neglect her furries.  You don't have to be member of the forum to donate to Chaldon 2013.  I have set up a Dove Trust page so that any tax payers can gift aid.  I'll get round to putting a link on my me page so that you can find it as I am not allowed to put a link that 'requests' money here in Community.  

Sara was amazed when we raised £1,000 for Champion 13 in 6 months.  The Ringo dog is on his next lap round his ticker tape because we felt we could get to £1500 in the 12 months we set ourselves as our fund-raising period.  We are already up to £1,227

Moz is up and motoring in the forum already and has motivated 2 more members to agree to list for Deno in December MDCC.I am sure she will winkle a few more out before MDCC listing day on 30th December. 

One of the nice things about a multi-charity forum is that those who 'don't do animals' can help Biker's Oldies or Thames Reach (the homeless).  But we all help each other!  We give fabric, wool and anything else to the more practical ones amongst us to get making stuff for our chosen charities. 

If there is someone on this Deno thread who sews, please let Moz know and I'll point her in the direction of our FABRIC FOR FREE thread.  I have a bedroom stashed high with new, donated fabric. I can send 15kg for about £10 - but 15kg of FREE fabric is a godsend to someone with sewing talent but who can't afford to outlay the cost of fabric.  

Anyway, good luck with the fund-raising for Deno and Posh.  

I feel we have a new burst of energy now.

Poor Deno is always hungry,  He tells me everytime i see him that, that bad croaks starves him so he nearly faints with hunger.

he tells me that he needs feeding up with guiness, karrits, apples and begs me to get him some donuts.

sorry to those in gerannes group . i couldnt stay because apparently there have been lots of complaints.

i understood there were different sections for each charity or good cause as they are sectioned and i agreed to run denos.  But i must have misunderstood and now realise that all the charitie are grouped together and shared out.

whilst i dont have a problem with this my ideas would not be possible for this and i just done have that kind of time to try and adapt  them even if it was possible.

One in particular cannot be done month by month for some one different.

so its with regret that i have bowed out and leave the position to someone else.

thought i had better add i am still happy to take money in to loonys for deno and posh thats not changed.  

just sadly i just dont have the time to give to lots of fund raising that gerannes group deserves and its better to step aside to let someone else to do it that give more time.

also not being quite normal i fund raise in my own way that works for me so i dont always fit in other groups.    being a tad batty an all.

Well, I can honestly say Denos belly has nothing on the shire I rode today, my legs have been destroyed, I at 5ft 2 had to climb on an 18h shire, I balanced on the top of a gate and got on very ungracefully. Loved the ride and the horse but I will be suffering for at least a week. Psst Deno, Charlie loves karrits and polos too, and stealing from the hay pile ]:)

Moz, I would like to endorse and support that idea if you don't mind.  If we can get our Deno money to someone who acknowledges receipt (just a "Thanks, I have received £x") I really think that will help to resolve a problem. 

I have your loonys PP account address. 

With your permission, I will ask forum fund-raisers to pass funds to you. I would feel happier with that arrangement. 

If that is okay, we have at least resolved one issue.

Moz, I think I didn't handle it correctly.  You and I agreed you would join the forum and run the Deno section - and Admin staff logged in the next day and there were fund-raising threads, information threads popping up so fast that they couldn't keep up. 

It was entirely my mistake Moz.  I should have handled it better. 

I did send you a message to say, "come back  and I will sort it".  (Never expect me to answer emails.  I am notorious for never opening my email accounts because I am so sick of eBay and PayPal spam!) 

I do have to focus on Chaldon 2013 in the New Year, but I'll find time to remind members about Deno - particularly during December MDCC. 

We'll send our money to loonys account Moz.  That will really help - so thank you for offering that as a solution.
